Default Headlights

Just curious, i have a 2015 lariet with the factory oem led lights. Honestly not a fan i want to put an hid conversion in do i have to buy a new housing in order to do this due to the fact they are like the raptor and all one large light not just a bulb. If so do i then just have to make the harness work or do they plug in like a normal light. I know alot of people change to the raptor sstyle light i just dont think they are that bright in my opinion. Thank you

You are going to need a new housing, and likely need to change the harness connector.

You would need to make some changes with FORScan to the BCM. As well you would definitely have to do some wiring changes as the current connector won't fit any of the lamps you would use with a projector setup. It is not easy to do but I'm sure if you work at it enough it could be done. Question is, is it really worth it?

easiest thing to do would be to sell your current headlights and then purchase aftermarket HID headlights. From there the only real work should just be connectors (and possibly some FORSCAN changes). Most people swapping to aftermarket HID headlights are coming from the OEM halogen ones so there are conversion harnesses, not sure there are aftermarket conversion harnesses to go from the OEM LED to aftermarket HID. Personally, the OEM LED headlights are the best I have ever had on a vehicle, but we all have our preferences.

You'd have to get halogen housings, open them up to install the projectors, aim them, then figure out the harness. Im sure you can get a bit for factory led's, but honestly, going from those led's to aftermarket hid retrofit is a lot of work and not worth it in my opinion.

if you are lifted in the front end, your light is a lot more spread out then what it should be, try to lower the angle on the lights a little if thats what is happening. I have a 2015 platinum with the LED lights and i love em. I am about to lift the front end with a 2inch puck and will see what happens from there.

Yes I have a 6” lift and 35s. I have had other f150s and f250s all had HID lights and a tinted windshield and never really noticed a difference these just don’t seem bright even when out of the truck could just be the temp of the light I know they are different. I’ll aim them and see what happens.
