Quick question,

Are there two different headlights? Halogen for XLT and lower models, HID with LED for higher end models.

Also beside having BLIS, are there different lighting options for the tail Lights?

 

yes

lariat and higher have LED tail lights and back up lights

XLT is all halogen/incandescent

- Standard is halogen headlights with regular bulb tail lights.

- Any truck that includes BLIS upgrades you to LED taiilights.

- Lariat 502a package, King Ranch, and platinum models all have LED (not HID) headlights.

 

If an XLT owner wanted LED headlights is it merely a bulb change or is it more than that ? I probably should know this but I don't so forgive my ignorance.

Unfortunately it will entail more. One thing to note, the assembly is different for each, as the LED have an additional LED strip around the outside edge in addition to the lighting itself being LED.
Fingers are crossed that it is possible to switch down the road and possibly that aftermarket solutions are released at a more reasonable price.

 

Hope this has not been asked before but if so I could not find it via a simple forum search. Can the outer ring color of the headlight be changed?

 

I was afraid that it would be a whole assembly swap. The strip around the outside edge is what I noticed I did not have

But, if you order BLIS on an XLT, you get LED tail & backup lights too.

 

No. They are orange and they cannot be changed.

Any other color other than white would be against DOT regulations.
