Default Headlight upgrade

Hey all!

Going tomorrow to pick up a new to me 2018 F150, after a short hiatus of not owning an F150. I know the XLT factory headlights are basically worthless at night and looking for an upgrade. I don't really want to buy a whole new assembly for the lights or going with LED in a halogen housing. What other options are out there? Just doing a retro-fit or are there any worthwhile actual halogen bulb upgrades to consider? Thanks for any input!!

If all you want is more lumens, this is the cheapest (and likely the quickest route): https://www.f150forum.com/f118/easy-...ht-mod-313120/

I've been satisfied with the cost/benefit incremental improvement.

Plenty of aftermarket out there + you can use oem with a headlight wire harness pre made wire harness by boostedgreygoose.

Pretty much looks exactly what I was looking for. Definitely a long thread that should prove a lot of trial and error, thanks!

Great lead posted by ChicagoJim... big bump in lumens with the bulb change and not expensive.

I know you're against it, but I would recommend the LED bulbs. There are far more bad ones on the market than good ones, but the good ones perform very well. My old 07 f150 halogens were barely visible so I put some Putco Silverlux bulbs in and they were well worth the investment. Keep in mind that the good LED bulbs are more expensive (typically over $150 for a pair) and they need to be properly indexed in the housing to perform correctly.

Morimoto XB Hybrids… first thing I did. They were delivered 3 days after I brought the truck home.

Here's what I did to keep things simple on my 2020 XLT, and I can actually drive at night now: Install Sylvania SilverStar Ultra's (Philips makes an equivalent also). Avoid the fully coated bulbs that promise "HID style" lighting, as they burn out quick and don't even light the road as well.

Here's the important part: Then go to a shop equipped with an optical headlight aiming machine, and pay them a few bucks to get them aimed right! The aim on my 2020 wasn't ideal even straight from the factory.

While I won't blast the night skies with massively bright beams, I personally feel that I can safely drive at night now, unlike when I first bought truck!

Damn those are nice! I've been trying to convince myself that I need the Alpharex NOVAs, but I keep looking at the XBs as well.
