Default The HDPP really is a unicorn.

Someone in another thread objected to the unicorn name. I just spent three hours calling Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and West Virginia looking for a 3.5 crew sync 3 any color. No one had an HDPP let alone the other options. And all of them expanded their search out to 600 or 900 dealers out.

Orders only! I am willing to fly to easy to get to places, and drive a day or two home. Nada.

Rand into the same issue with my combo. Had a discussion with the dealership owner. Story I'm getting is they all use outside services to place orders based on market research, so this behavior results is significantly less variety from dealership to dealership than in days past. They don't mind because people who buy off the lot have a simpler decision to make.
When I contacted Ford and did a nationwide search, they showed a national inventory of 0 for my combo, and that was in any color.

Because of the limits on trims and options as well as the weight capability there are basically two groups interested in the HDPP, those towing RVs and contractors. I bet if you look into fleet sales you'll see many more but they will be XL models. The 2019 order book dropped the Lariat trim option from HDPP so that tells you something. And honestly most dealers don't know what you are talking about when you ask. I went to two that sold a lot of trucks and asked for their "truck expert". Both were aware of it, I found out afterward, but neither bought it up when I went in with questions on payload and hauling. I'm expecting one from the last run of '18 MY trucks in a month.

Call Ford marketing. They can tell you if any are on lots and where better than the dealer. Dealers don't always let others see their inventory.

The only two I found in the country were fleet orders XLs in Colorado. And they wouldn’t sell me either of them.

In all of Ontario Canada (pop. 13.6 million) only two dealers carry any and they had three XLTs when I ordered mine.

I will say after owning mine for a month, that I have no idea why they are not more popular. If you are buying a truck to do truck stuff get a HD!

Oh and I think I might have rarest of unicorns, a Canadian HDPP/MTTP Lariat in Stone Grey with a Camel interior. Not hard to find in a parking lot!

I went thru same thing with 2016 model....never found one.

If its mission critical (wasnt in my case), why not the F250 instead?

Especially now that they're a new design.

Great question. I did not like the way the 250 drove, and 98% of the time I would not be towing with it. The 2% I do tow, I need the beefed up 150. My commute ( only once per week thank goodness) is 129 miles.

I was up there a few days back and noticed a good number of SCREWS w/6.5' bed. Is your dealer in SW Ontario?
