the 6.5’ bed is big enough for my yamaha kodiak 700 to fully shut the tailgate.

Does anyone use the ramps that ford makes specifically for our trucks? I know it was advertised as an option when the 15’s were released.

I use them. I've seen far too many videos of people getting half way up ramps and accelerating and throwing the ramps off the tailgate. You're suppose to secure your ramps but I see way too many people just laying them down and driving up. The Ford ramps slide sideways onto a metal rod attached to the back of the tailgate. Its not possible to throw the ramps off like that.

I marked where I need to line up the ramps for my ATV wheel width with a paint pen so it's really quick to slide them on, extend them and drive up. They weigh like ~30-35 pounds per ramp and fit under the rear seat. My bed cover and width of my ATV stop me from using the box link mounting brackets for the ramps. The tailgate plate doesn't interfere with the bed cover though(Revolver X2).

I trailer my Honda from the house to hunting but while hunting I put it in the back of the pickup. When we have to retrieve an animal we usually quarter or half it (depending on big it is) and muscle it in the back of truck with the ATV. Deer is no problem but elk can be some work.

[QUOTE=JordanZr;5679160]I use them.

I really like the design of those. Seems more convenient than the normal ones. So did you order yours with your truck or did you buy after. Does the tailgate plate have to be ordered separately?
thanks for the info!

I bought them afterwards. The plate comes with the ramps since they won't attach to the tailgate without it. The box link adapters to store the ramps on the side of the bed are included as well. The ramps are sold individually(motorcycles) and as a pair. It's a lot more expensive to buy two singles since you'll end up with two tailgate plates.

My Yamaha Kodiak fits in my 6.5 foot bed with about an inch to spare. To protect the cab window is easy - I just run a strap through the front rack on the quad and secure it to the tie down points on both sides of the front of the bed. Then I cinch down the front of the quad a couple inches so it cannot bounce up and contact the cab window. To be on the safe side I also run a strap from the rear of the quad through the crack at the bottom of the tailgate to the receiver hitch. On really rough roads that will also keep the quad centered in the bed - I've had the quad end up completely on one side of the bed, straddling the wheel well, after a few miles of really rough dirt road.
And as someone said - get the longest ramps possible. I use 9' ramps that fold in the middle and fit easily under the quad. Had a coworked killed when he was backing his quad off his pickup and it flipped over backwards onto him. He was using really short ramps so a steep angle...his wife found him with the quad on him when she went out to see why he hadn't come in the house..........

How much weight can the tailgate hold? Will it be able to support the weight of a full size 4 wheeler?

Does anyone have any problems loading them into their lifted truck? I didn't think about that, but it could be a bad deal if you get a bad angle loading one and it flips over on you... any tips/suggestions?
