Default Grille shutter control?

Any way to force the shutters closed? The damn wrens have decided that the top of my trans cooler is the perfect place to set up house and keep blocking the top half of my radiator with crap. I've been in there twice in the last week to clean out...4-5 eggs in there today! Keeps 'em warm I guess...

You can set the degree of open/closed via a tune. At least HPTuners can, anyway.

Yeah...I'm wanting to close them when the engine is off and have them operate normally when running. Easy way to do that?

Install a fox or a coon under the hood somewhere. Problem solved

Seriously, could you cover it with some screen or netting?

Interesting...

Can others confirm? I don't generally look, but I don't think I have ever seen them shut. No codes or anything to indicate they are not working as intended.

When the Ignition is turned on, the Shutters run through a full cycle for PCM Calibration and test, then is used by the Program as needed.
I just took a look at my 2018 5L and they are well open.
I would believe they will be in the position last at, when the engine was running and shut off after pulling a hill I live on.
The next Ignition cycle, they would be tested again to be sure they are not stuck closed.
There is limit signal switching involved to do the testing.
I would not think they are parked like windshield wipers. There would be no need if they are tested each time.
Good luck.

Mine are open when parked, when I've looked. Seems easier to hang something over the grille than screw around with the shutters to foil a bird. Or get a strip of bird spikes and tape them to the top of the trans cooler.
