Good tires
As I'm keeping my truck for another year, my Revo 3s need replacing. Revo 3s were great tires when new but rain and snow performance got bad after about 20,000. Likely cheaper compound in deeper layers. So Im passing on this tire
Looked at Cooper Discoverer At3 4s but read many statements about poor reliability that turned me off of this tire.
The other im considering is Falken Wildpeak AT3 which get the best reviews with the best off road and wet performance even over the KO2s! Had the KO2s and they were the most dangerous tire I ever owned! Life threatening in the rain!
Anyhow Wildpeak AT3w got poor snow perforance review from tire racks tests but owners around the internet swear they have excellent winter performance.
What's everyone's opinion on the Falken Wildpeak AT3w's snow performance?
Thanks

Glad you asked. I put the AT3W's on my RWD '04 Ranger, I think it was last year. Anyway, IMO, they're very good in the snow, and decent on hard packed icy snow. No trouble on wet either. The Ranger with only 2 wheel drive, 4:10LSD, is my daily, it's got to get pretty bad before the 150 leaves the barn, and, if Falken had the size I want, I'd likely wear these Toyo's out, and replace with the Falkens, they're that good IMO.
Maybe take a look at the Toyo ATIII's as well?
I agree on the celebrated KO2's, there are much better and less expensive tires out there.

I put the Wildpeaks on in March so I don't have much info for snow and ice as we have very little this winter to begin with and like one day I got to test them a little in those conditions. However I was caught in very bad torrential rain several times last month on the highway traveling from Cleveland to the Toledo Ohio area and they stuck to the highway like glue. I was very glad I changed out the stock Goodyear Wranglers before that happened as my previous Ram had come with the Wranglers and it would hydroplane like crazy with those tires. So as of right now I'm very happy with the Wildpeaks.
And despite them being a heavier tire my mpg has gone up 2 since putting them on.

I've had the Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws in the P-series on my Subaru Outback and also in LT-series on my Diesel Dodge Ram. They are excellent tires. Long tread life, been great in the snow and sleet, and quiet for an all-terrain. The ones on my Outback are now 2.5 years old with about 40k miles on them and are at about 3/32". They still perform great even at low depth, but I'm going to be replacing them before winter with another set. Also worth noting, I'm lazy and never rotate them and it hasn't affected them at all, they've all worn evenly.
I've had several sets of Coopers, in fact my F150 has Coopers Discoverers on it right now. They look nice and perform okay, but the treadlife is always less than impressive.

I have no experience with the Wildpeaks yet. I am moving even further north than I currently am (northern WI). Since I will be needing tires later this fall I ask the builder what he runs on his F150. He runs the Wildpeaks also. He did say that he only gets about 2 years out of them but, being a builder and in an area where jobs aren't exactly next to each other, he puts a lot of miles on in a short amount of time. He says that he has had no issues in any of the winters they had there. Last year I went to bed with only 1/8" of snow on the ground and woke up with 15". So, based on that and what I've read here on this forum, those are what I am going with.
I've owned KO2s, Wrangler Duratracs and now Falken Wildpeaks and the Wildpeaks seem to have the best wet and snow traction of them. Driving through a snow/ice storm in upper WI and UP of Michigan last winter and I had a lot more confidence than my previous goodyears. Time will tell if the traction will remain when tread thickness goes down.
