Default Godzilla Swap

Hi everyone, New to this forum, I have owned several V-8 F150's ( Only ones I like ) over the years and usually keep them till they hit 300K. I , like others ( maybe) have been disappointed with this Oil Sucking generation 5.0 engine. So I was looking through the Summit Racing catalog and saw the Godzilla crate engine and swap kit. I like my truck and think the swap along with a gear upgrade ( 3.31 to 3.97's ) would really improve towing and performance some what. What I am after is the torgue.

Has anyone done this swap? If so what issues did you run into? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

Highly doubt anyone has done this but I formally nominate you to try it and document your experiences in great detail!

Sounds bad azz, but likely will not be the towing machine you hope for. Usually the frame and suspension add into the payload equation (what you can place weight wise on the truck), and the Godzilla will certainly hurt that number. It might have the torque and power to pull a 15k 4 wheel wagon, but won't handle the squat of reality placed on the back end of a conventional trailer.

This.

You need axles and a transmission that can handle a Godzilla. The frame matters…at that point, just get a Super Duty that needs a 7.3 in it.

Your legal towing limit is tied to the chassis. Upgrading axles, engines, and more can help the truck perform better while towing, but cannot increase the legal towing limit of your truck.

As with any engine swap, the hardest part is always integration. The factory traction control, stability control, and ABS are tightly integrated with the engine ECU to adjust the throttle position, ignition timing, and more in order to maintain stability. There's no telling if any part of your gauge cluster will even work anymore, or what part of the truck will be in limp mode because something isn't communicating like the truck's modules expect. You either have to have the capability to reverse engineer and fix this stuff yourself, or deeeeeeeeeeep pockets to be able to pay someone with this capability to do it for you.

The official Ford Control Pack is designed to drive the Godzilla and a 10R140 2wd transmission. Keeping 4x4 would require a custom solution.

The Godzilla swap kits are typically designed to put the engine into a race car/truck where final integration doesn't matter. I know some people are fine driving around with a Christmas tree of lights on their dash, but I'm not.

The $20k + you'd have into this to maybe make it work would be a good down payment on a Super Duty with a Godzilla already in it.

Its definitely not going to be straightforward. You'll likely spend more time and money than its worth. Like said, get a gasser superduty and call it a day.

The one and done posts always get the most attention for some reason.

When they see no one is going to spoon feed them, they move on.
