Will be interesting if they use a turbo V6 as a base engine eventually.
if they put twin turbos on the 4.3 it would probably be their top engine choice

Was a long read but I think I read they are using a small V6 turbo as the base engine on the upper models.

Simple logic, does not take rocket science to figure out either. Like Ford with the Diesel option, they have to put it in the upper trims to pay for the darn thing! Unlike Ford though who is using a tried and true engine from other lines, the GM is a brand spanking new engine, which needed a whole new assembly line, new castings, new part manufacturing, etc. and it is untested in the field. Do you really think GM would put an untested motor into every low end truck they sell, or stick with tried and true small V6 until the new fangled 4 popper has some field history?

Really no different logic than their newfangled tailgate that is destined to fail.

the problem with gm's 2.7 4 cyl is that it gets the same mileage as the 5.3 v8. whats the point?

A meager attempt to compete with the Ecoboosts.

I don’t think Ford has anything to worry about competing against the new generation GM trucks.

Ram is another story. Their sales numbers are improving and their pricing is competitive. If they can improve reliability, I think they could give Ford some real competition.

Agreed! Ram is definitely a contender against the F-150 with the latest generation as far as interior, has Ford beat. There are still no crash test results, their towing and payload still suffer, and reliability is unknown, so once there are some facts for the crash and reliability, and if the numbers are good, Ford can see some heavy competition in this market. If Ram can improve on Payload and towing, then Ford will really have to step it up.

I received my latest issue of Car n Driver and there was a headline uptop that said, Chevrolet makes Ford nervous with new Silverado. I read the article and I was like wut? That new body looks hideous and the interior looks old and overall the truck seems very meh. I still love my '03 Tahoe though. Haha

GM makes plenty of good motors that do not eat them self's. My 89 GMC 1500 Reg Cab 4x4, 350 V8 manual 5 speed went 245,000 miles before it needed anything other than routine maintenance. Neither of my Duramax trucks had engine related issues. Not a one of my Corvettes have had engine related issues.

I switched to an F-150, not because of power train. I switched in 2017, because the Technology in the GMC Denali was no different than was in my 06 GMC Duramax I was trading.I mean seriously, the top of the line trim, and you need a key to start it? You have to pull the fob out of your pocket to lock or un-lock it? Memory features sucked also. Head unit was dated and cumbersome to use. No 110 in the cab, many other items standard in the Platinum not available in the Denali.

Not having Keyless ignition was a huge push away from GMC for me. After all, my 14 Stingray with the same sticker price, had keyless ignition, and lock and unlock. My wifes 2012 Range rover was also keyless. My 17 Harley was keyless.

I'm not sure that GMC with the new release has come completely up to date. Wont really know until its time to Trade this truck. Not Brand loyal on Pick ups. I buy the best one on the market, the year I am buying with the features I want.
