Gear selector indicator lights
Negative, while the additional lighting may look nice in the dark to light up your cab, there is no need for the driver to be looking down.
1) it's alwasy been 2 clicks from Reverse to Drive and back.
2) the cluster has the digital display of the gear selected.
I get a chuckle watching people back from a parking space or driveway and look town to make sure they went 2 clicks to D.
I do think some model years had it lit up as some have added it back in (or maybe I'm thinking they added colored ambient lighting). My 2016 does not have an illuminated PRNDL console.

Center console individual gearshift position indicator. This is one of those deceptive features you can easily miss if you don't do a test ride at night. Steering wheel position many times blocks a clear view of the Instrument Panel's gear shift indicator position.
I added the LED light to my center console for the gearshift, looks nicer but not really very effective to identify the gear shift lever position. The center console gear shift lever is too far away from the illuminated letters to be of any great assistance. Kind of disappointing with all the fancy electronics Ford did not provide a light indicator that illuminates individually as each gear position is selected on the center console. Even a simple LED on the shift lever in closer proximity to the the P N R D M might work better especially at night. .There are posts on the forum if you just want to illuminate all the shift letters.
