So a while back I posted a video that I flashed a 2017's IPC firmware to a 2015 cluster and everything seemed to work with the exception of a message showing the fuel tank was empty when it was half full. Anyways, I've figured out what the problem was with that and now the cluster powers up without errors (video here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3j...ew?usp=sharing)

Anyways, since I have a 2016 I can't thoroughly test it like someone with a 2017 could so if anyone following this thread has a 2017 XLT and was thinking of upgrading to the 8" cluster, please pm me for details. Below is a picture of the cluster (it shows km/h faceplate but I'll change that to mph faceplate). It will ship with the Limited tachometer faceplate shown. I'm doing this because I want to be 100% sure that I can take any 2015-2016 cluster and flash 2017 firmware to it and that the cluster will behave exactly the same in a 2017 truck as a factory cluster would function.

Note: this cluster is not for anyone with a 2015-2016 truck as there will be issues with locking of gears out on the vertical display.

Yes, any 2017 trim level without the 8" display should work.

Are the issues with locking out gears due to the '17s having the 10 speed?

Maybe, but I had the as-built set for a '17 5.0 with 6-speed but when you go to lock out gears it drops two at a time on the display with every push of the button on shifter. This isn't because of a bad firmware flash either because when lucas8888 bought a '17 cluster for his '15, it did the same thing so it seems to be something in the '17 firmware that makes it behave erratically on 15-16s.

Yeah I hope it works out since the 8" '17 clusters are so scarce right now and would be nice if a '15 or '16 cluster could reliably be flashed to '17 firmware and work as intended.

So I learned something new tonight. The needles are different sizes between the 8" and 4" screen IPCs. No blue needles for me.

If this saddens you too much I will happily buy that sport cluster off of you.

Have been watching this thread for awhile I have a 2015 crew cab sport with 5.0 and select shift transmission 2WD, bliss, etc 302A package. Just wondering if I were to purchase a new cluster what part number would I use I thik it maybe FL3Z-10849-AHA OR BHA. I found where the 8 in screen was availible on a xlt with what ford calls the XLT driver assistance package code 96D thank you for any help you can give me.
