Had expected Ford to make the gas cap door with a lock with release inside the cab

 

Yep, that is one HUGE disappointment, you can get a locking gas cap, but then need a key..and on the trucks without a ignition key that's a HUGE hassle...

Not to mention, lock the fuel filler door and you can cut down people screwing with your tank, they say you can't stuff a egg or sand//sugar in these fill valves...but really, is that 100% true and what happens to the crap that get's shoved down the fill neck...

It's 2015 Ford, come on & put a simple fuel filler door lock on, a little remote button or lever....it's not rocket science wanting to secure our fuel access point.

 

I for one, love what Ford has done. I can pull up and fuel up. No locks levers etc.

I've heard stories...but no one I know personally has ever had anyone tampering with their gas tank or siphoning gas. I'm not saying it does not happen, I'm sure it's dependent of where you live. My last car I traded for my F150 had locking gas door that you had to release with a lever. First car I ever owned with that and I continually forgot to pull the lever.

Granted...unscrewing a gas cap has never been issue for me LOL.

 

X2. I like the simplicity of it. If someone wants to mess with your ride a cheesy lock is not going to stop them, not to mention there are plenty of other things they can damage..

 

Hope they make a locking one for it. It's really needed in some environments. I have found a hose jammed down mine already when it was parked at work.

 

I agree. I love not having a gas cap. I've never had an issue during the last 3 years with my Explorer. I've never heard of anyone either having someone tampering with their Ford. I know the risk is there, but you can basically say just about every car on the road has the same risk.

 

I prefer no locking gas cap door. That's so 90's.

 

On my wife's vw, the fuel full door will not open unless the car is unlocked. Brilliantly simple.

But super vexing if the dealer didn't tell you about it and you lock the car to go in the store before during....

 

This is a great thread! I live in Memphis, TN and for ALL the bad things people say about Memphis, I have never heard of anyone having an issue like this...glad I don't live in a crime ridden/vandalism strewn place like Wyoming or Colorado

 

Two of the features I really like. The capless filler and the keypad. :-)
