Default Front tow hooks

I'm wanting to add a set to my '15 2WD XL but the catalog says for 4 X 4 only. Will they work on my truck? I could not find an answer in a search.

I put them on my Platinum 4X2. If it uses the same configuration
You will need the following in addition to the tow hooks:
A new lower bumper valance cover. One for the 4X4.
There are also two plastic covers that go over the hooks before you reinstall the bumper.

Thank you ! Do you happen to have the part numbers for the lower valance cover and the plastic covers ?

These were the part numbers for my Platinum, not sure if they are the same for the XL

FL3Z-17626-BA - Valance (They call it a panel)
FL3Z-9901927-AA Cover
FL3Z-9901926-AA Cover (One is Left and one is right side)
If they aren't the same this should put the parts guy in the Ball Park for yours.

Its sound good, I wanted to install them in my son F 150 XL 2X4… however did you take any pictures to illustrated this? It's easy to say… it’s not that simple once you start working on tow hooks.

Are you able to use the existing bumper on '15 & up 2wd's when adding the tow hooks? Do I need to purchase the mounting bolt as well or does it use an existing one? Thanks!

It's not the bumper that's any different - it's the under valance - so you'll either have to cut holes in the valance or buy the 4wd valance.

there's a thread in here somewhere that details it - I did it and it's not that bad.

you have to take the bumper off to do it.

There is also a separate part number for the bolts and mounting brackets.

couldn't find the other thread but if this helps...

part numbers you'll need are as follows

rubber covers for the opening

FL3Z9901926AA
FL3Z9901927AA

tow hooks (this is for the black ones)

FL3Z-17A954-C

there is a separate part number for the bolts - but you can buy it as a kit on ebay...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/162045846948?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
front valance - this is for the 4wd but the difference is it has the holes for the hooks

FL3Z17626BA

The air dam is reusable as is the bumper. You will have to remove the bumper and the fog lights if you have them to get the valance off - it's about 15 or 20 bolts - and keep them because the new one doesn't come with them.

let me know if you have any questions - I did this and it wasn't really that bad once I knew what I was doing

I did this to mine.

It's a pretty easy upgrade but you do have to remove the entire bumper.

As others mentioned, you'll need a new Bumper Valance and two Tow Hook Covers.

The only way to remove the Valance is to remove the bumper, it sucks but I believe that's the only way.

Once you remove the bumper you can remove the Valance and install the new one. Next you probably want to insert the hook covers into place and then insert the tow hooks through the cover and then bolt them down, I did this a long time ago but from what I remember they have two bolts each and the holes where you bolt them to are already there.

Installing the tow hooks is the easiest part of this mod, the hardest part is removing the bumper and putting it back. Installing the new Valance is also pretty easy and quick.

The reason you need a new Valance is because Ford makes two versions, one with holes for tow hooks and one without, so you'll need the one with holes cut out.

The tow hook covers are placed into the holes that the new Valance provides, and the Tow Hooks go inside of those covers with only the hooks sticking out towards the front.

When I installed mine I messed up... I installed the tow hooks first and then completely forgot about the Covers, it was really hard putting the Covers in after the Hooks are installed.

If you're good with a blade, you can cut the holes out yourself from your existing Valance and you won't have to remove the bumper at all.
