Default Front Hit

This morning I was driving on a highway and a car swerved into my lane and I went straight into a concrete median. The trucks air bags deployed . I didn't even know that there was an air bag in the rear seat. While getting a few things out today one of the body shop guys said that it looks like part of the frame is bent. He also said that they some times use a front stub kit for the front . My question for you guys is this truck totaled ? On the inside the bin where the console slides up wont open. Its a 2016 with a stage 2.

Likely not totalled, but the shop will find what pictures don't show.

If you keep the truck be sure the airbag deployment doesn't get reported on autocheck or Carfax. Just saying....

Damn...she took it like a champ. Really sucks tho and glad your ok. Let us know if it's totaled or not, I hear the frame is a 3 section deal as to be able to replace damaged areas.

Glad you're OK. I've always been an F-150 guy (this is my 5th), but the safety rating of these things is amazing. We have seen picture after picture of crushed trucks and the occupants walked away unscathed.

Unfortunately, I am not sure those beautiful aftermarket headlights will be covered by insurance. That would be a bummer.

Glad you're OK. Only an in depth inspection will tell... Just like an iceberg, there is most likely more damage that we can't see from the exterior (Frame, A/C - Coolant radiators, intercooler if ecoboost, etc.).

To be declared totaled, it must exceed X% of the truck's value. By checking the picture, I'm guessing it's a 10k$ job, give or take.

The accident & amount of damages will be reported to CarFax and added to the vehicle's history. This said, its value will decrease as well (and that's the worst part IMO).

That sux, but I'm glad you're OK. The safety engineering on these trucks really is pretty amazing. After my '12 was totaled (T-boned), everybody who saw it said I should be dead, but I walked away with just a few very impressive bruises.

I'd be surprised if your truck is totaled, but no doubt the damage goes beyond what the photos show. I'm not sure you can prevent anything from being reported to CarFax, but when settling with your insurance company (assuming it's not totaled), I'd definitely negotiate for diminished value. A lot of people just shy away from vehicles that have been in a crash, so resale value can be reduced even if the repairs made the truck better than new.

It takes a really hard hit to deploy airbags in today's vehicles. The truck did an exceptional job of protecting you and glad you are ok. I think the damage is going to be in the 16k range. Let us know!
