Default Which Fox Shock?

Price difference aside I’m curious as to which Fox shock you would prefer and why (performance, ride comfort, etc)? I know there are some older threads on this but curious for those that have had one or the other for sometime if they would go back and change anything. FWIW I am thinking about purchasing one of the kits and vehicle in question would be 90% on road driving. Thanks in advance!

No truck information in your signature, profile or mentioned in this post. But if you drive 90% highway (paved roads) you should not need any more than factory original shocks.

But if you’re going to spend extra money on shocks, then based on the information you provided it doesn’t matter what you buy.

I have build sheet order 2020 XLT 4x4 setup the way I want based on what I expect to use it for.
90% paved roads, towing a boat, occasional snow and 10% dirt roads. I don’t need big wheels / tires or any off road suspension for my intended use.

Good luck

The intent of this post was asking for feedback from those that have had one or the other Fox shocks and which they prefer based on their experience. From your reply you prefer the stock shock as it works best for you, which is great, but doesn’t really provide any value to the original question. Thanks for your feedback though.

Doubt anyone has had more than one of those to give a real world comparison. Get what you can find the best deal on imo.

Just slightly biased or really limited selection. KM

I've had both the Fox 2.0 and Ford Performance 2.0... and now Fox 2.5, but that's a whole different beast.

I had the Fox 2.0 shocks for about 60k miles before one of the front coilovers started leaking. The Fox 2.0 have a 650lb coil spring, while the Ford Performance have a 550lb coil spring. The Ford Performance spring rate is closer to the factory spring rate so I bought the Ford Performance set. Could I tell a difference? Not really... at least I couldn't feel anything drastically different, maybe there was a marginal difference. I'd still lean towards the 550lb spring rate though because that's more in line with what the aluminum bodied F150's should be running versus the 650lb spring rate for the older steel bodied trucks.

@F1o5r0d

ive had all 3 on 13th gens ford f150’s.

the Fox and the Roush are identical minus the Roush comes with rear guards (rooster tails I think they call them). The Roush ones used to claim to accept a 1/2 inch more rear block but fox said they were identical.

the front ford performance ones have a different spring and they are valves differently. Ford performance said they were designed to ride closer to the raptor (closer).

after owning them all and the roads I drive on, I prefer the ford performance ones, they seem to be a tad softer up front and take hills better. The fox 2.0/Roush were nice, the ford perf ones just seemed to take the faster bumps/hills better.

all that said, without looking, the price difference used to be $500, that wasn’t worth it to me as I had 0 complaints with any set.

obviously, I wouldn’t get the Roush ones again as they sell the rear rooster tail seperately and it’s not worth the cost…not sure how they still get people to pay the extra $150 for a $30 guard.
