I think that watt 16xlt is asking would be a great help for beginner’s, it will take off a lot of stress about this and after a few live lesson the people could move on by themselves. The point would be to give a new comer a good start.
Most of the people won't be going in this software modification because they are afraid of screwing up something

There are others that I am sure only want one or two things changed and don't even have a laptop to use. So they don't want to spend the money.

Hey Liv, curious. You interested in adding a tab for people that can find some users in there area that can do forscan changes?
I know before I got in to it a member here helped me out and I'd like to return the favor.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to keep a tab with user names and areas they are in that are willing to help people in their area.
I for one and more than happy to help anyone in the DFW area.

That's exactly right ! I don't have a lap top or any of the things needed for the Forscan changes. Not worth it to me to get all that just for about 4 or 5 simple changes that I can live without but would be nice to have. And I'm just barely good enough with a computer to be dangerous. So.......... Just happens I was at the dealer yesterday (first oil change). I got to talk to their "expert" about doing those minor changes. You wouldn't believe the excuses they gave me. Such as the Bambi mode can't be done because that is an overload protection so it won't overload with three sets of lights on at the same time. They never heard of or have ever seen the digital numbers above the temp gages. Eliminate double honk can't be done. Same for the double press for the panic alarm. Secure idle is impossible. Oh yeah, it's $150 an hour of labor here at AutoNations Ford in Houston, TX.

If you're looking for an easier social network to connect with local ForScan users Rusty made a ForScan Facebook group a lot of us use which is here:
Edit: Looks like this website blocks Facebook links. Not Cool!
Just look up 'ForScan Help & Info' group on facebook and you'll find us.
Edit 2: Hey Ford I just told you how to spy on me ^
Even in that facebook group though, I don't tell people what to do step by step unless if I have a lot of free time and am feeling generous. Just like Livnitup said, I too encourage people to pick up ForScan and use it on their own Ford vehicles to contribute more data and back to the larger community. I'll teach people how to use it in person, that's fun for me, in-fact I'll be at the Princess Auto in North Edmonton Saturday morning doing exactly that, but to quote myself from an earlier Facebook post: "If you people can stop PM'ing me vague generic questions that can be answered by just about any other person here that would be great."

I seem to remember an earlier discussion about this turning into concerns about liability. I don't mind taking on the risks of modding MY truck, but if I connect to and brick someone else's, I'd feel pretty bad about it... and some folks are more litigious than others these days.
This sort of thing isn't exactly covered by a good Samaritan clause.

It's so cheap and easy to learn how do Forscan changes, there is such a great network of people willing to help you on line that it's just dumb not to invest the money and do it yourself!!
There are a lot of members on this thread that I have explained this to that have followed my advice and have become addicted.. So I guess there is that concern.

I will do changes and have done changes for one friend only, anybody else will have to step off the cliff on their own. I would be willing to teach, but they need to have their own hardware. They can afford a $50K+ truck, they can afford the purchase of the necessary tools to use ForScan.
Also what happens when someone has to take their truck in for service and I am on vacation or my laptop with their abt folder just got stolen.
