I tried following the link from the Forscan tutorial as well and same thing happens when i go to download. Windows 10
its being flagged by windows defender for some reason, just go to windows defender and remove it from quarantine, and install it as normal.

I've been trying to download it to get started with Forscan, and both Windows Defender and Malwarebytes flag the file as containing a virus or malware. Specifically, it's getting flagged for the PUP.Optional.Amazon1Button, which they describe as:
PUP.Optional.Amazon1Button is Malwarebytes’ detection name for a potentially unwanted software issued by Amazon “to help you compare products and prices while searching and shopping online.”
Amazon users often install this potentially unwanted software without realizing how intrusive it is.
It's not clear to me exactly what this does, but it makes hesitant to install Forscan. Sound like this is some sort of tracking software for Amazon...

I just installed the latest version with both Norton Antivirus and MalwareBytes on my laptop with no problems.

Correction to my earlier post: Windows Security antivirus keeps pegging it as the Win32/Detplock trojan. It rates the threat level as 'severe.' What is going on with this software?

I would go to the Forscan.org website and ask. So far your the only person that has said anything. No one here has anything to do with the software other than using it. As I said, I just downloaded it and installed it. Norton and Malware Bytes had no issues with it.

There are others on the Forscan forum talking about the same problem. I was able to download and install the previous version (2.3.28) without problem, so the issue seems related to version 2.3.29.

I received this response to a question I posted on the Forscan board:
This is a false positive. Reason for false positive is that we use special binary packer ASProtect to pack the executable (to protected it against cracking), this technique is similar to the one used by some malware.
You can check the file or distributive using some online service (e.g. virustotal.com) to make sure that absolute majority of antivirus do not consider it a virus.
I don’t know why the problem occurs only with v. 2.3.29, but for the time being, I won’t be trying to use it, just to be cautious.

this is very good info to know that you posted esp for people who have a pet in the car with the AC running and the truck idling.
I have no idea, but the thought of disconnecting wires going to the brakes without completely understanding their purpose across a chain of various modules is very concerning and not recommended.

Quick question about the latest FORScan versions. I also had to get a new computer recently, and just checked, and the version I downloaded is 2.3.26. Read about several issues with errors when doing changes, and now apparent tracking software (since it's free, wouldn't be surprised. Ha ha). So should I keep the version .26, or get .27 or .28? Haven't used it on my truck yet, but just curious. Thx.
