I have the Bluetooth MX and have used it with Forscan and several other programs, on several different vehicles. It's excellent. I believe Forscan even mentions it as the "gold standard".
WiFi model is not the best solution. I was going to use my WiFi MX to initiate the sub that I installed but could not connect to it (Windows 10 laptop). Ended up ordering a wired one.
Anyone having any problems with forscan or the OBDLINK MX? It will not detect my truck for some reason.
The MX Bluetooth adapter has 4 LED indicators on the front and a pairing button. Plug the adapter into your vehicle OBD port. Turn ignition to ON. The power LED should light up and the Bluetooth LED should be flashing at a slow rate. With your laptop ready to go, press the pairing button on the MX. The Bluetooth LED on the adapter will start flashing rapidly. On the laptop, search for local Bluetooth devices. It should show up in the list and you should be able to pair the two to each other.
If the MX Power LED is not lighting up, or you don't see the Bluetooth LED doing anything then contact www.scantool.net.
Mine had a firmware update then stopped pairing about a month ago. Think something went wrong with the update but haven't tried messing with it again - keep forgetting.
I bought the OBDlink Wifi since I have the iPhone and Bluetooth won't work. I bought this just for the diagnostics prior to Forscan. Then I bought the ELM327 just for using Forscan.
