My '16 and '18 2.7L F-150's both met or exceeded sticker MPG rating hand calculated. Last July I drove from Phoenix AZ to Frederick MD 2300 miles @ 65mph for 27.3mpg

According to the articles, it wasn't that Ford was cheating per se, but that they suspect their math was off. Someone carried a decimal to the wrong place? More than likely it is emission rather than MPG related, but the first thing that people think when it comes to cars and EPA will always be MPG.

VW cheated on emissions not MPG with their diesels. In their case, the emissions did directly relate to MPG.

Bottom line is, the EPA and CAFE is forcing manufacturers to build clean burning cars AND high MPG to boot. One doesn't mean you can accomplish the other. Manufacturers are doing what they can to comply and sometimes someone somewhere can make a mistake. Might be the case here, since employees were the ones to point it out, and not a coverup with blatant cheating at the vehicle level like VW.

Well my truck LOM both exaggerate fuel mileage numbers and the speedo with stock tires actually over read mileage driven which further enhances the perceived mpg. About 12-15% which is fairly dishonest IMO, but despite that and the 13.8 mpg I'm averaging so far, still love the truck.

Not sure what the EPA rating is for my 2016 5.0 Screw 4x2 but my LOM tells me 17.9MPG and hasn't moved in months since I calibrated it back in July or Aug last year. it did drop from 18.9 when I changed tires from 245/75/17 to 275/70/17 around thanksgiving. I get a .1 up or down every now and then.
It's a truck with what is now considered a big motor i didn't care about MPG i cared that it was a truck.

Yep! Agreed. There are some really good numbers on some of these threads . Maybe some believe them.
MPG is important to some, and to some MPG is VERY important, and yet others have no understanding of that.
My F150 is a tool, a portable tool box if you will. A 6 or 8 foot bed covered, that I can get to everywhere I need it.
Gasoline is an expense. This makes my tool box MPG important to me.
Every year for the last 25, I have put 21 to 25 thousand miles on my tool box.
This makes MPG VERY important to me. Every expense I keep a record of.
In April 1994, I bought a new Chevy K1500.16.2 MPG lifetime. I still have the paperwork showing every penny I spent on that truck, and every truck since.
I put 179K. on that truck. That is the most miles I have put on all trucks. I try to trade after 150K. My 2000 XLT small V6 and 5 speed only got 17 MPG lifetime, very fun to drive, so at 85K I gave to my son.
2003 XLT 5.4 only got 15.4 MPG lifetime, taken out of service at 154K Went back to Chevy twice. Now back to F150 2018 bought in Oct 2017. Both Chevy and Ford I have seen always within 1 to 2 MPG from manufacture stated numbers.
This 21.5 lifetime MPG.

My 2018 2.7 averages around 20.5 around town, 25.0 (60-70 mph) on highways and 24.2 on the interstates (79mph).

On a trip to FL last week, drove 2291 miles round trip. Hand calculated 23.8 mpg. Around town about 18. This was running mostly interstate @ 70 with cruise set and running the air about 50% of the time.
Surprised, as this was the first time taking the truck on a long trip without the trailer behind us. BTW, towing we get about 9 to 9.5 mpg with a 6700 lb. T/T.
