My 16 Lariat SCREW FX4right now is averaging 17.6mpg according to the computer screen.... Sticker says it should get 16 to 15, or an average of 18. So mine is dead inside the range, and very near the predicted average.

Ford has always been lower than the GM and Ram's, as a whole for hand calculated mileage. My personal experience is that the GM's are typical very close to give or take and since the Gen 4 Ram has attained above their average ratings. Again, it's been my personal experience as well as my close family that I can speak on.
Edit: just for info here are my averages:
2006 Ram 5.7 1500 (Gen 3): Summer time average was 16.2mpg, best highway trip was 17.3mpg. Can't remember EPA ratings for that truck but I believe it was just below the ratings.
2013 Ram 5.7 1500 Big Horn: Summer time average was 18.5mpg, best highway trips were just under 21mpg. The truck was rated for 13 city 19 highway with the 6 speed.
2017 Ram 5.7 1500 Express: Summer time average was 19.2, best highway trips were 23mpg. The truck was rated for 14 city 21 highway.
2017 Ram EcoD 1500 Big Horn: Summer time average was 25mpg, best highway trips were 30.5mpg. The truck was rated for 19 city 27 highway.
2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L: Summer time average was 14.6, best highway trip was 17.2mpg. Hard to remember but I think it was rated for 18mpg highway???
2018 Ford F150 XLT 2.7L: Haven't had a full on summer day yet but mid 40's best highway trip was 24.1mpg, I was very surprised to see it high the EPA rating.
My driving is 25% city and 75%.

I know his isn't an mpg thread but Ive mentioned it somewhere before and got the impression a couple people think I'm full of it lol. I have an 18 5.0 screw with 4x4.my experience is, especially this truck is you gotta be easy on the gas keeping it as close to 1500 rpms as possible. That's what I do when I want good mpgs. Anyways my best was 8.7 L/100 km's over a 430 km highway trip. Pretty damn good to me. Equates to something like 27 mpg. Now, that being said this was on the DIC, but still.... It's not THAT far off of reality. Problem with this big tanks is its too hard to drive like a grandma for the whole tank. :p

2017 CC 3:31 axle ratio stock 18" wheels, bed cover...no mods. Easy driving at a cruise control set at 70...best highway 23.5 calculated. Rated 26 highway, can get that at slower speeds.

I average over 17mpg combined with my 5.0 and im hard on the throttle. Seen as much as 23mpg on the highway. Coming from a 06 FX4 5.4l that got 17 mpg on the highway if you feathered the throttle and 13-14 in the city. This new 18 5.0 feels like an economy vehicle. Im satisfied with he fuel mileage regardless.

I got news for you. ALL manufacturers are 'gaming the system' as far as emissions go.
It was either a Berkeley or Cal Davis professor that did a paper on European auto manufacturers a few years ago, and he found that EVERY SINGLE vehicle made in Euroland had some sort of an onboard emissions cheat device, JUST like VW and Dodge/Ram got popped for.
I think one of two things is gonna happen:
Either the governments of the world(who are already aware of what's going on) are gonna start to fricken RELAX the ever-progressing emissions standards on motor vehicles, or they're go after EVERY SINGLE auto maker on the friggen planet for not meeting them.
As the CEO of VW stated a couple years ago at the Paris auto show(IIRC) -I'm paraphrasing here- 'It's not as simple as governments setting a standard for emissions, and automakers being able to manufacture vehicles that will adhere to said standards. Trying to develop the technology to meet these new standards is costing BILLIONS of dollars, and there's no guaranty we're gonna be able to meet 'em. This is BY FAR the BIGGEST problem facing the auto industry today'

I don't know what mine gets honestly. I just fill it up when it needs it. It's a truck, I didn't expect good mileage out of it. If gas gets expensive enough, I'll buy a little 4 cylinder or maybe even an electric car to daily.

My ‘18 5.0 can’t hit the EPA 22 hwy under the best conditions, but it’s still pretty good for what it is. My ‘13 VW Passat TDI absolutely CRUSHED its 43 mpg hwy rating, commonly got over 50 hand calculated, but we now know they lied in a completely different way . Lesson learned, it’s all b.s. in one form or another. Fuelly.com probably is the best source of truth.
