Default Ford ESP

For those with the Ford Plan, I just got the Basic, Curious are most that are doing their own maintenance, are you sticking with Motorcraft Syn/blend or have you moved on to full synthetic ? Also can you be denied a claim for not using recommended Motorcraft ?

I’ve been on the ESP plan for almost 3 years and do all my own maintenance. Never been an issue nor has my dealer even asked about it. When something needed repair just brought it in and the fixed it. Had the starter replaced last month which cost me a 100 bucks for deductable. I’m certain it would have been a lot more without my ESP. Unless it was something really radical I don’t believe a dealer is going to question anything about oil, etc. FWIW I use Motorcraft oil because I got a super deal on a couple cases no other reason. I also use Motorcraft filters but again I really don’t think the dealer cares imo.

No warranty issues doing your own oil changes and the oil of your choice that meets standards. Keep an Excel sheet on your maintenance and keep all of your receipts. Never a question for any related warranty issues.

It's REALLY going to depend on the dealer. Personally, I don't want to give them any reason to balk at any warranty work.
I have the 6/100000 and I let the dealer do the services when the truck calls for it. It ends up being about every 9500mi. I do the "in between" changes with an OEM filter and the same blend oil. As far as they are concerned it's "dealer serviced".
I do pass on their attempts to run up the bill with brakes, battery, etc as those have no impact on the warranty.
In my case the extended warranty has paid off with phasers and an oil pan. Now I have to decide if I'm keeping the truck past February as that's when the warranty is out.

Have had Ford ESP on all new and used cars I have bought. I do my own oil and filters every 5K. I use Ford Filter and oil. Never had an issue. So long as you use oil that meets or exceeds what theirs does, you are good! Keep paper records.

I do my own maintenance, I don’t use motorcraft oil.

I use oil that meets or exceeds, I also use the Ford Pass app to log the oil changes and other services. Allows me to upload receipts, pics, and so forth.

So Im clear in the context of this conversation... were you the original owner of the vehicle at the 3/36 5/60 warranty period? You purchased additional coverage (ESP) until 100,000 miles??
Im curious as to why you wouldn't have purchased the max coverage... like 10yr/175??

I go to Ford quicklane for all oil changes. Anything done to my truck is through them and I send them to my trucks email address. My F150 has an email address and the dealer has that on file. All invoices get scanned directly there.
