one of my fog lights has water in it from a huge crack, so I bought a replacement for each side so they match.
am I better off just taking the fog light itself out of the entire assembly rather than trying to replace the entire housing/bezel?

Yes, just replace the light, not the entire housing. As I recall, you have to remove the bumper to replace the housing. Unhook the back of the fog light, and pop it out of the housing.
I actually have some yellow film from when I ordered a Lamin x kit for my wife's car. She doesn't have fogs but the kit came with yellow fog film. Will use that plus j can put it on the new one before I put them in place. Will make it much easier to do.
You can pop the fog light out using a screw driver. Its just two tabs holding them in. I was able to upgrade to LED housings in minutes. If you want to go that route, look at Diode Dynamics SS3 Sports or Pros.

DD also has the Max version of the replacement OEM junk lights. I have them without the backlight. These are the very best fogs I've ever had, in other words, they really are a great replacement, and work as advertised. https://www.diodedynamics.com/ss3-le...ord-f-150.html
