Default Fluid change

I have a 2016 F150 XLT Supercrew 4X4 2.7L Ecoboost that is coming up on 100,000 miles and I need to change trans fluid, diff fluids, and transfer case fluids. I know Ford says 150,000 miles but even 100,000 miles seems like alot. Thinking on using the following, any suggestions?
Motorcraft Mercon LV for trans fluid and transfer case?
Valvoline 75w90 full synthetic for both front and rear differential?
I guess Ford just recommends oil and filter change for transmission and not a flush so that is only about 7 quarts, correct?
thanks in advance.

With the 6r80 and the possibility of lead frame issues, I wouldn’t even wait that long. I did a pan drop and filter change at 60k recently and will do so again at 90k.

I’d have 8 quarts and a filter on hand for the transmission.

Absolutely, Dartor! Using Motorcraft Mercon LV for transmission and transfer case is a good match. Valvoline 75w90 synthetic for differentials is a smart pick. Kudos to 2008__XL for highlighting 6r80 concerns. A proactive pan drop and filter change, like they did, can extend transmission life. Hope that adds clarity!

I agree with others, 150k is a lot of miles for a transmission fluid change. Many have done it at 50k and the fluids were pretty dirty.

Here is our list of recommended fluids and capacities. The Easy-Pack's make the differential fluid changes far easier and we have those in the transmission fluid as well since I believe yours does not have the standard dipstick tube.

Agreed on the fluids change…. Dont bother with the “powerflush” option.

drop the pan and change out the filter, while your add it, change out that plastic pan for an aluminum one

Thanks for the replies. 1 more question.

What are the torque specs for the above covers?

When you drop the pan, swap it for the Dorman replacement. They’re usually pretty easy to get ahold of through Oreillys or Autozone, etc. Adds about $60 to the overall cost of your service BUT it has a drain plug. You might curse now but you’ll be happy you did it on the next one.

Just did my trans and rear diff last week, trans took right at 7qts though yours may vary. Have 8 on hand to be sure. Do you have a pump setup to refill the trans? Most don’t which is why I ask. I have a man aftermarket dipstick for my trans which makes this easier but if you don’t you’ll be filling from the bottom and you need the pump

Default Transfer Case fluid identification still fluid!

EDIT AGAIN: I don't know the difference in "transaxle" and "transfer case", apparently. Mods please delete this post so I don't feel so stupid. But I would still like to find an official Ford doc or website that identifies the recommended transfer case fluid.

EDIT: IGNORE MY BELOW. IT APPEARS I WENT DOWN THE FORD FLUIDS INTERNET HOLE AGAIN???? I found forum references to XT-11-QDC posted in 2018. And pricing per quart of it from $25 to over $70 per quart. Something is wrong. But the ford doc citing XT-11-QDC has a March 2023 creation/revision date on it. Im confused.

Anybody know what fluid they put in the transfer case at the dealer?

----------WRONG BELOW?????
Ford seems to have changed the fluid recommendation for the transfer case (again). Per this doc they now recommend DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION FLUID (XT-11-QDC).
I went down an internet rabbit hole trying to ID the correct fluid in 2020 and ended up with Mercon LV in the transfer case at a 56K mile change. Wondering if, at 84K I should change it again to the new recommended?

Does Amsoil have an equivalent to XT-11-QDC?

in case anybody is interested, this seems to be the consolidated list of downloadable docs that specify all the fluids.

We do have a DCT fluid https://www.amsoil.com/p/100-synthetic-dct-fluid-dct/ but as you mentioned, I don't think that is what your F150 will use. You can use our vehicle lookup to determine what fluids we have that are for your particular vehicle.

Color of LV/ULV does not mean anything. They will turn brown within a few thousand miles of coming from the factory.
