Default Flip keys

So I just got a 2015 XL sport. The original flip key was hard to open and close. When I bought it I had a lock smith make a second key, because I hate only having one key.

I was using the replacement key today, and it started having a hard time opening and closing.

any idea on how to fix them?

Make sure the small roll pin hasn't shifted to one side. Press it in flush.

One of mine is getting that way. I just assumed it was dirt build up. I usually use a fingernail to get it open.

First world problems. Sometimes I wish my key would stay closed better. It seems to deploy in my pocket all the time. I kind of wish they had a lock mechanism to keep it from opening inadvertently. I’ve often wondered if the button spring could be replaced with something stronger, making the button hard to push.

People don't take care of their shiznit. Whenever I trade in my cell phones, the salespeople are always absolutely astonished, because they still look brand new at 2+ years old. It never ceases to amaze me how people can spend so much on something and let it go to pot. I'm not implying that the OP is a slob, I'm just making a casual observation in response to the above comment.

I just got this key the 1st of March 22. The original key was doing the same thing, I figure after 300,000 miles it is due a small issue.

I really just need to know how to take it apart because this one is stuck open and the other one gets stuck in either position.

Thanks
Mike

You sure it's your key that's deploying?

So I called the locksmith that made it and he told me check the roll pin as someone here suggested. I said it won’t close enough for me to check it. He told me put a flat blade screw driver behind the key and pry it out a bit. I did and it started to close. I pushed the roll pin back in, but I don’t trust it to stay.

now to see if a nail set will spread out each end of the pin to hold it in place.

thanks
