If I buy a new unprogramed key fob, can I program it in my truck without having the key cut by a locksmith??

 

I don't think you can turn the ignition switch to the run position if it isn't cut. You need to do that to program new key, assuming you have two master keys.

 

Thanks Dude, I have the keyless entry with a push button to start. Don't know what purpose that key has???

 

YES!! I was able to program a 5 button on my '19. no cut key needed. ( now have 3 working fobs) I still have not had the key cut, if I lose a fob then I'll get it cut.

 

The spare key is for unlocking the door in case of a dead battery on the truck or key fob, as well as locking and unlocking the glove box and console. I don’t know for sure, but I would assume you should be able to program the fob without having that key cut.

 

The hidden key inside the FOB, or spare metal key also unlocks the access point for lowering the spare tire.

Yes, I did it to have a backup. You have to have 2 programmed fobs to program a third one. No need to cut the hidden key unless you want to (I did not).
