Default First Tow Experience

This weekend I moved my boat from Va to NC. The boat, trailer, fuel ... comes to ~7,500lbs. Whereas it towed like a champ demonstrating literally zero areas of concern, the mileage did take a beating.

I reset the tips odometer when hooked up and dragged the boat for 4.5hrs. At the end, 7.3 MPG ....

Still love the truck though!!!

The trucks do pull a load well. They just have to drink alot of gas to do it.

How many miles on the truck? Mileage should get better as the engine breaks in.

7,500 miles on the truck.

Without the boat, the thing gets GREAT mileage. I have reached 23 on the highway!!

Tow mileage seems low, unless you were doing a lot of city driving or inclines.

Towing mileage does seem low. I got 8.5 MPG with a travel trailer. VA to NC is pretty flat.

Meh, seems about right to me. 7500 pounds with gear and stuff nets me pretty close to the same

My last trip with a 6500k TT saw a round trip average around 12. I would have thought the 10 spd would get a little more. Really wish I had a 10 spd lol, but I couldn't wait for 17.

must be the 3.5 EB for the low tow mpg. pulling 6500# on a 16ft trailer I get 17mpg and 23 hwy is pretty standard. specs in sig. this isnt about turbo vs v8. on an added note we got no hills down here on the coast.

If 17 is standard, then why is this 5.0 only getting 8 [posted above] ? In reality, he lost up to 3 mpg because of extra weight from wheels and tires. I average 11 pulling my 292 Cobalt with my little 3.5 .
