Default First time towing

So today I towed my arctic cat with a Carson car hauler. Two things I noticed that bother me, first is everytime i slow down for a red light I hear a very faint clicking or buzzing sound, very similar to morse code. I tried with radio off, a/c off and disconnected my phone and pulled everything out of the sockets and I still hear it. Does anyone else have the same problem. Second issue is in t/h mode when I come to a stop it seems to down shift drastically and almost redlines till I come to a complete stop. Also the "trailer wiring fault" and "trailer disconnected" keeps popping up, I know my trailer has wiring issues but do u think that's whats causing the noise.

I'm not sure about the clicking or buzzing sound but the reason it downshift is because your truck is engine breaking. It's helping you slow down the truck without locking/cooking your brakes. Also, I too had the wiring problem but it's mainly due to the corrosion of your trailer plug. You should sand down the corrosion with a makeshift sanding stick that's small enough to fit in the inlet.

Thanks for the advice on the trailer plug, I'll check it out tomorrow I didn't think it might be that easy of a fix. Also, I kinda assumed it was engine braking but it's so dramatic that makes wonder if something is wrong.

X2 on the engine breaking thats what you want it to do especially on a downgrade. i will say my doesn't do it unless going down hill. I do notice that my trailer plug doesn't fit super tight so its thrown the bad trailer light a couple times now. Ive seen mention of the same issue somewhere here before. I know its not my plug- worked great on last truck never an issue.

It should engine brake in Tow/Haul mode and to maintain speed when in Cruise Control.

Turn those two off and you'll need to use your brakes more.

Also the tranny seems to be adaptive, it learns how you drive so it may get better with time.

What truck and engine combo do you have? And how heavy is your trailer?
