First Oil Change at how many miles on your F150?

The manual for my 2016 states to follow the OLM with the only exceptions being operated primarily in dusty or sandy conditions or off road operation. (Then every 5000 miles/6mos). The manual goes so far as to state if you do things occcasionally, these do not apply. There is a table that states "When to Expect the Message Prompting You to Change Oil", but it is not the maintenance schedule, only a guide as to when you may see the light turn on.
Two follow-ons:
First, The OLM in my 2016 2.7l truck appears to be a simple mileage counter. 10,000 mile intervals no matter the driving style. I short trip this thing in super cold weather and it makes no difference to the OLM.
Second, I did my first change at 2500 miles, and I've done the rest around 7500 miles. Shorter than the OLM, but long enough for my tastes.

I can provide the tracking of that for my truck over the last 31,000 miles. Using the percent life remaining, the highest mine has indicated for an interval is 10,505 miles and the shortest is 9830 miles. Either I drive exactly as Ford wants or its more or less a counter with very little discounting for extreme conditions (and I say all of this for the 2.7 only - I have experience with other engines with dramatically lower intervals in the same conditions).
As an example, my truck is short tripped nearly all winter - I drive less than 5 miles daily to a park n ride in cold weather (as in below zero). A friend in a similar situation with the 3.5 has his chopped down towards 6000 miles in similar conditions. Zero change in the indicated mileage for an oil change relative to easy freeway mileage in the summer on the 2.7 truck... Not what one would expect or experience with even other engines in this platform.

Got my first LOF done at 5K and change.

Changed it at 3,054 miles myself, with the new Mobil1 0/30. Will do it every 5K miles, like on all my vehicles. Reason is a lot of short-distance trips, and extreme TX weather most of the year, including dust. Better safe than sorry, especially when a DIY oil change is like $30, but to each his own .

I changed my oil early at around 2400 miles (3900 kilometers) on my 2018 3.5 ecoboost. I send an oil analysis from the initial oil change & there was higher that average (reportable) levels of copper, & silicon. I also had high fuel dilution levels (over 8%), causing the viscosity to fall out of spec.
I changed it early just to flush wear materials out early. I followed up, & sent the next 3 oil changes, & watched iron levels fall to less that 1/3 of the first oil analysis, and copper to fall from 59 ppm to about 8 now.
In my personal experience, & opinion it is good to get first 3 oil changes done sooner to get the initial wear materials flushed out.
However others on here will bash you for doing "unnecessary" maintenance to your own vehicle.

I change mine at 50 miles and then every 100 miles thereafter.
Either :
Either :
- I am OCD,
- I like to pollute the environment with unnecesary drain oil,
- or the chick at the oil change place is really hot!

LOL - so
1st change was 1100 miles - it had 200 on when I bought it off the lot. traded that out for motorcraft and filter
2nd was at 5000 miles - same
3rd was at 10K - same.
4th was at 16,300 - moved to Pennzoil Platinum - and motorcraft filter.
5th was 23200 - pen plat - motorcraft filter. I have a 2.7L by the way so only filter I'll buy for now. New air filter. and it is now 2 years old.
OH wait - dad got the oil changed thinking he was helping at 14K at some lube place - no clue what they used and I bet they didnt' trade the filter - I was glad to get that **** off of there.
Irony - OLM usually runs 100-30% in around 4800 to 5300 miles. I change it around 30% as my goal - mostly to get the filter of. Dad drives it for 4 months run 2300 miles and OLM goes 100% to 50% in just that time. SO yes it varies based on many things. cold starts, short trips, OAT are a big factor. Romps to 90 on a on ramp don't help either though.

Next summer - or at year 3. I will trade out transmission fluid, differential fluid and coolant just because. not miles - years. probably won't have 50 on her.
Oh and brake fluid.
