First Impressions
New F150 and first post. I've been on the site a long time doing research for my new truck and thought I'd pass along my first impressions. Ordered back in April and the truck was delivered about 5 weeks later. I have just about 5500 miles on it so far with a couple decent trips both towing our boat and without.
I have a 2016 F150 XLT, with the 3.5L Eco and the max tow package. Short bed, standard 18" wheels and moon roof with the Bronze Fire exterior.
First towing trip was about 500-miles round trip from Ohio to Lake Norris, TN after the engine had about 3000 miles on the odometer, through very hilly terrain in southern KY and into TN. The boat weights about 5500 lbs loaded plus I had another 600-lbs in passengers/gear in the back. I got 12.8 mpg on this trip, averaging 70 mph.
Second trip was without the boat, but loaded up with 1200-lbs in passengers and gear. This was a 900-mile round trip from southern Ohio to eastern PA, mostly flat and rolling hills on the highways. I kept it on cruise control for most of the trip at 73 mph and it got 21 mpg overall.
I use it mostly as my daily commuter which is 40-miles round trip to work and I've been getting about 17.5 mpg on average.
So I'm very pleased overall with fuel economy. The ride is great and I really don't have any complaints, except the stupid cup holders that will not hold a standard bottle of water. It's very annoying to constantly pick up the bottle every time it falls out after normal braking or turning.
