Default First Ford!

Thinking about ditching the 1500 and getting a 2017 F150 with 3.5 Eco. Any reason to stay away from this particular year? Anything to watch out for? Can it possibly have more issues than my '14 Silverado?
Thanks.

This was the first model year for the electric parking brake. Due to multiple "Malfunctions" mine ended up being a lemon law buyback.

It’ll likely be pretty reliable. That’s the second Gen 3.5 so the timing chain that was the weak point in the early one is no longer an issue. You might get a small lump in your dash too, hope you can deal with it

So the timing chain issue was a Gen 1 or Gen 2 issue?

Every vehicle has its issues. I’ve owned a lot of cars from multiple manufacturers, American, Korean, Japanese, and German, and 4 F series trucks. Every single one has had some minor issue/issues that are common. Half of them you wouldn’t even notice if it wasn’t for online forums amplifying every little flaw and being full of posts of people asking how to resolve their issue, or just complaining because nobody else wants to hear it. In all likelihood you have nothing to worry about. Buy that turbo Ford and enjoy it, I love mine!

That was Gen 1, and usually only neglected engines. They had one single long chain that was vulnerable to “stretch” if oil wasn’t kept up on. Gen 2 doesn’t have this issue, they have 2 chains and stronger links. No 2.7s have this issue. I will add that the leaky oil pan thing was on the 2.7, specifically 15-17. Mine is a 17 2.7 though and it’s dry as a bone.
