Default Finally found something to complain about

Went "camping" this weekend with the family. The outlets worked great for filling up the queen sized air mattresses but the damn coffee maker overloaded the outlet . How's a man supposed to glamp without a coffee maker?! I survived but the wife sure could have used a cup after my 2 year old decided she would rather go to the bathroom in her pants than use the camp bathroom

On a positive note I really enjoyed how smooth the 5.0 was and how well it handled mountain driving. I thought for sure I'd be in the upper rpm's where it makes more power but didn't take much effort at all. Love this truck!

IIRC, someone here tried to use a toaster and had some trouble.

Yup. I think the power in his house had gone out, so he gave that a whirl. We gave him a quick and dirty explanation of power supply vs. load and why it didn't work.

If I recall, they're good for up to 500 watts.

It's 400 watts. With inverter inefficiency factored in, that is, maybe, 3 amps

I LOL'd at this! Recommendation for your next trip; the best camp coffee is over a fire using a percolator like this!

Makes sense. OP should be able to pull far more than that by clamping the inverter directly to the battery.

So you're telling me when the power goes out in my house this won't keep everything in the house powered up?

Geezzzzzz.... and I spent like an hour trying to decide whether to buy a 12ga. or 14ga. 100' extension chord....

No, but you might be able to get it to tow your kitchen to someplace where there is power

With a bigger inverter. My travel trailer has a 1000 watt inverter and I would still hesitate to try an electric coffee maker. Even that is only about 8 amps.
