Default Finally took the plunge

Briefly owned a full size standard cab Z71 for about three months in 1998. Due to income issues I sold it and embarrassingly downgraded to a Honda Civic.

Been looking at, researching, pricing F150s for 10 years.

never could justify the cost and let my ultimate wish, a Platinum, prevent me from taking the plunge for a lower tiered model. I know...stupid.

came to my senses and bought a used Black 2016 Lariat, 2WD, 5.0 V8. Other than my two month experience in 1998, I’ve never owned a V8 and wanted one so I avoided the V6EB. Only has 42K miles on it.

owned it for about 5 hours now. Giddy would be a good description.

already got a list of upgrades/accessories but the first ones have to be:

bed cover
some sort of box/organizer for the bed.

recommendations are welcomed

Nice truck. I like the Full Tilt by Extang. They open easy do a pretty good job of keeping the bed dry one person can lift it off and on easy. As for bed storage that depends a lot on what you wan to store. There is pretty good storage area behind the rear passenger seat. After you drive it a bit you will figure out what is needed and what is nice to have and what is useless. I find more useless stuff then needed stuff in mine.

I have the MX4 cover and am a fan. There are a number of popular options on the forum.

My big recommendation is that you head over to the vendor section of the forum and look at which dealers are offering discounts on the cover you decide to buy. You'll likely have to PM to get a quote. I was able to save a couple hundred on my purchase because of that.

Congrats on the new truck. Very happy with my Bakflip F1 cover. I went with it over the MX4 due to the extra scratch resistance of the FRP finish. Can't go wrong with either.

It is not 100% leak proof (most folding are not) but is close enough. The cover locks from the inside so when the tailgate is locked, the entire thing is - no keys to fumble around with.

Tint. Bed cover. Level it if you so desire. Just enjoy it.

I second the MX4 cover. As said, it's not totally leak proof but you can mitigate that somewhat by adding a tailgate seal. Congrats and enjoy!

Beware this forum if you're trying to hang onto your money... you'll end up spending more on mods than you did for the truck.

Enjoy, you have yourself one sweet ride.
