A few functionality changes I noticed between 2016 and 2018
I have a 2016 Limited that I brought in to the dealer to get a new APIM (note. if you have a build pre December 2016, you get a new APIM to stop the glitching radios)
They gave me a new 2018 King Ranch Diesel as a loaner.
I noticed that when I turn off the 2018 and come back the next day, the heated steering wheel settings and the seat cooler/heater stayed on. The 2016 did not remember last settings.
The 2018 average fuel mileage screen did the average for the last 30 minutes or something like that. My 2016 just does average since the last reset. I was seeing 19.2 mpg in the diesel and my 2016 ecoboost doesn't seem to get above 18 mpg
The lane assist on the 2018 seemed to not light up until you were going over 30 or 40 mph. on my 2016, any time you have noticeable lane markers, the truck senses them. Seemed like you had to go faster in the 2018 for the lane assist to work.
The 2018 was quieter on acceleration. I wondered if the B&O speaker system turned off the engine noise enhancement in the cab. The B&O did seem a little more crisp, but not too much different from the Sony in my opinion. The Sony may e perceived as muddier because they are pumping that engine noise into the sound system also.
Beep noises in the radio were different in the 2018 than the 2016. Softer or something. The overhead picture of the truck when backing up was more drawing like and not like a picture of an actual truck. My wife thought that in my 2016 that it was really an overhead picture of the truck. In the 2018 it looked like a drawing.
Of course the lack of ambient light change. The vented fan seats instead of A/C cooled seats. The speedo number fonts seemed more plain. I also found the 10 speed transmission more clunky. rough quick shifting. The diesel seemed slower also over the ecoboost.
