Sales Tax - 7% sales tax based on the purchase price of the vehicle is required. If a trade-in is
indicated on the dealer’s invoice, subtract the trade in price from the price of the new vehicle and
calculate the
sales tax based on the adjusted price. If you paid the sales tax to the state where the
vehicle was purchased, include the receipt made out to the purchaser. If you paid less than 7%, you
must pay the difference to New Jersey.

If the vehicle tax rate is 8.375%, it is calculated correctly.
Allowable doc fees vary by state.
I don't know anything about laws/taxes outside of Texas so I am no help.

But then says this
5. What must a dealership include when determining the sales price (i.e., purchase
price) of a motor vehicle?
.Federal excise taxes;
.Destination charges from a manufacturer to a dealership;
.Charges for preparing the motor vehicle for delivery to the purchaser or for
additional work on the motor vehicle;
.Documentary service fees (See Question 7.);
.Charges for an extended warranty contract and service/maintenance agreement;
.Charges for additional accessories or equipment; and
.Any manufacturer’s rebate or cash, either shown as a down payment or as a
deduction from the sales price.

$498.89 Taxable Fees
$400.00 Non Tax Fees
$359.00 Doc Fee
Accessories
Find out what the Taxable Fees and Non Tax Fees are. If these are dealer fees they need to be removed or negotiated away as additional discount.
Doc Fee - Removed or negotiated away as additional discount.
Accessories - At least 50% Off
You should be getting 8-12% Off real MSRP before Destination Charge (Real MSRP not before package discounts).
I'm assuming that's not a 302A because of the charge for remote start. So package discounts are going to be less than the $2500 on my truck.
Going with $1500 in package discounts + $1,495 delivery gives $46,085 before destination or $3,687 - $5,530 + $359 (Even if manadatory it's extra profit for the dealer and and extra discount you can negotiate) + rebates (for your area) + $3,000 PCO. It looks to me like you have work to do.
If the discount includes roughly $1500 in Package Discounts and you don't have a $3,000 PCO then the price looks close other than confirming the fees are not dealer add ons, negotiating the accessories down 50% and getting with Wickel to get a $3,000 PCO.

I always ask for the buyer's order... that way you see the real story. That said:
Doc fee is insane - tell them to bugger off
Make sure tax is being applied correctly for your state
Be careful on the line items for "remote start" and "bed liner". Did they add these (and are you *sure*) or did they come from the factory? They may be trying to double-dip.

NADA is telling me the invoice is $45,836 but build it with X plan says the buy price is 44,183. X plan with lease because of insentives has final price at $42,433?
