Default Are factory wheels and tires the same height?

Across the board on 2wd models?

For example, I have the factory 17 inch rims and tires (2wd) and if I want to go with the factory 20s or the Limited 22s, will the overall size (height) of the tire stay the same?

no, 275/55R20 is the size tire on all 2wd trucks w/ factory 20s. the Limited uses 275/45R22 tires. You won't have fitment problems but the speedo will be off unless you make the changes in the computer.

That info is incorrect... a 275/55R20 is 31.9" tall and a 275/45R22 is 31.8" tall. They're essentially the same height. The 275/65R18's on mine are 32.1" tall (street tires, same as 2wd). Should be relatively the same across the board.

You're not answering his question about overall height. Have you done the math to prove they are different diameters, or making an assumption?

Here's the math if you didn't do it....

(275*0.55*2/25.4)+20 = 31.909"

(275*0.45*2/25.4)+22 = 31.744"

31.744/31.909 = 99.48%

So if you had those 20's and were going to that 22" size, your speedometer would read 0.52% fast. or 0.26mph fast 50mph (speedo would read faster than you are going). I think its safe to say they are the same size......

Even when you look at a specific tire size you need to look up the manufacturer specs as their 275/55-20 may be a bit bigger or smaller than someone else's.

But regardless of that minute difference, they are all bigger than the 245/70-17 that 2wd XL trucks tend to come with.

To determine if the speedo will display the correct MPH, you should compare the "revs per mile" as supplied by the tire manufacturer. So for example a Goodyear Wrangler 245/70R17 is 684 revs per mile, while a Wrangler 275/55R20 is 655 revs per mile. Swapping between these two sizes would have about a 4% error. Goodyear lists the revs per mile in the their tire data, here's a link for the Wrangler tires:

There is nearly a 1.5" difference in height between the factory 18's and 20's.

Stock 18's on a 4x4 are 275/65 which means they're 32.1" tall.
