Default factory LED headlights

New member here looking to move from an 03 into a new F-150 XLT SCAB. I really want the best headlights since my eyes are bad and it's getting tougher to drive safely at night--plus I live in deer country. LEDs don't appear in the build list unless I go to a Lariait 502A which adds many thousands of upgrades I don't want/need. Is there a way to special order LED headlights? Appreciate any advice!

You can replace the factory halogen bulbs with LED bulbs or you can buy the OEM LED headlights and install those with some extra wiring.

If you do this, please get quality bulbs, adjust the housings, and at a minimum, check your light pattern to make sure you're not blinding oncoming traffic with bright, poorly-aimed, highly-dispersed light.

TL;DR: don't be that guy.

I sold my factory LED headlights on these forums. You should be able to find deals once in awhile.

Easiest, least expensive way to do it is replace the factory halogens with a brighter (more powerful) halogen bulb.

I think the best solution (but not the easiest or cheapest) is to buy some legitimate LED hi/low aux headlights from one of the VERY FEW manufacturers that comply to DOT and SAE standards.
This way, you keep your factory lights fully functional, but can drive with the added LEGAL lights to supplement your needs whenever you require them.

For good lights, see JW Speaker, Truck-Lite, or Peterson. That is the short list, almost everything else is a Chinese knockoff with questionable quality and compliance.

I bought these http://www.jwspeaker.com/products/le...632-evolution/
To mount on this https://n-fab.com/light-bar-with-tabs

They have arrived and I hope to mount them this weekend. I also ordered electronic solid state relays so the low beams will come on with my truck low beams and the high beams will come on when my factory high beams are actuated. I have a switch that I will use to kill power to them, for when I don't want them on with my headlights.

The nice thing about using high quality lights is that you won't blind/glare oncoming vehicles and it is 100% legal for me to run them any time with my headlights.

I would say go with Diode Dynamic SL2's or wait a couple of months until the Morimoto XB headlights come out. The Retrofit Source posted a YouTube video with a prototype 2018 version but they will be making them for 2015-2017 as well. Not sure if I can link the YouTube video but here goes:

There is a thread here for an ultra-cheap upgrade to the factory bulbs. It's still halogen, so it is perfectly compatible and 100% legal....but the bulbs listed put out more light.

Forget screwing around with the headlights. Add a set of baja designs. They ROCK!
You can stuff two into the oem fog spots or flushmount two into the bumper trim. I have BOTH.

The bigger ones are the XL series. The smaller ones are the Squadron series.

They both come in differing intensities.

At 10k lumens each, the XL80s are too bright for street use. Also, they are too hot for the OEM harness. I run mine on a relay and foot switch.

The standard XLs may be better for every day use.

The Squadron Pros(4900lumens ea) are ok for street use and the Squadron Sports are the least expensive and still push 2600 lumens each. Thats 2x the Morimotos. I got mine (Pros)configured with the wide cornering lens and love them. I'm running them on the stock harness. They are brighter then the OEM headlights
