Default Factory auto start and key

Need to have a second key made for my truck while I'm at it thought it be a good time to add an auto start. If I was to go through the dealer for the auto start are they able to provide the key fob from Ford with the auto start button. Like the idea of just the one keyfob that will do it all. Spoke to the dealership believe the dude I delt with was inexperienced with what I was asking. Does anyone know the part number for the factory auto starts and factory key fob?

When you reach out to order parts or schedule installation, the term you’re looking for is “remote start”. The service/parts advisor may get confused if you call it “auto start”. That’s the start/stop system that turns off the engine at red lights.

The OEM system for aftermarket installation comes in two flavors.

1. Add a security module and use a standard key fob (“lock-unlock-lock”). Parts cost $175ish.
2. Add a security module + long range antenna and receive a two-way fob to supplement any normal key. Parts cost $280ish.

Having owned the long range system, I highly recommend it. The signal was good enough to remote start my truck while sitting at my desk quite a distance from the parking lot. It flashes an LED to confirm the truck started.

Make sure you specify genuine Ford parts when asking for a quote. Sometimes the dealer will charge you OEM prices and then install a janky 3rd party unit.

This is what I had the dealer install when I brought the truck. I negotiated it during the sale. Both keys were programmed.

A cheaper (and probably easier ) way to get remote start with an added benefit of an alarm. https://accessories.ford.com/product...rity-system-20
There was a time when a spare key could be activated with the procedure in the manual. Ford in their infinite wisdom disabled that feature sometime midway through the 2018 MY. I got a new fob off ebay with a blank key and had the local locksmith cut it. Most dealers charge for a key, some two arms and a leg. The dealer I bought from wanted over $80 to program a keyfob, The other one in town did it as a courtesy with no charge. If you aren't able to activate in your truck, don't stop with Ford dealers. Many others like Chevy and Ram have the capability and might do it to get you in the showroom.
