Did they make any changes on the 2018 license plate lights? Still halogen bulbs with same housing as 2015-17s?

Bump to see if the 2018 plate lights have been updated to LED like the 250.

Both of my plate lenses cracked because the bulbs I put in were too tall. Lol

18s are still the same. Just curious what bulbs did you use that are cracking the lense?

It was a pair of bulbs from a previous vehicle I had in my toolbox. I think they were from VLED. They were a little too long and I noticed after the fact that they touched the lens.

Gotta order new housings, which is why I asked lol

Just got warm enough to work on the truck in Eastern Ontario, so I installed my LED housings in a brand new bumper step pad along with some marker lights from the Super Duty dualie trucks. Will install the step pad on the truck soon and compare the light pattern between the original and LED housings.

I recently replaced mine with the Phillips bulbs recommend from a thread on here and they are perfect. No washing out of backup camera and also don’t light up the entire back of the truck. 10 bucks on Amazon.

Dude do you have to be a dick in every comment on the forum? Literally, you never have anything positive to say. Everything you do is the best, every brand you don’t like is ****, blah blah.

actually I think he is very helpful and the truth is that he is correct. There are plenty of threads about LED plate lights, heck I started one. This thread is about using the OEM SD lights, leave it as such please.

Pardon me for trying to help any other guys reading this thinking they need these to achieve a certain result. I’m all about OEM when possible, but it’s not always the best solution. My point is no reason to be a dick about it and he has a long history of being an arrogant *****.
