I just bought mine with $100 deduct. Was going to do the $200...but thought if I have to take the truck twice, the deductible X2 on top of cost of the warranty really starts to add up.

I figured any repair to these vehicles now days is easily a couple or more hundred dollars to repair.

I mentioned in another message...they fixed my Vista roof under original warranty and the cost would have been $2300.

I know there have been many messages posted about being a waste of money or others saying completely worth it.

After having $2300 dollars of warranty work to fix the Vista roof this week, I thought with all the bells and whistles on this truck, why not get an extended warranty.

If you're going to buy one I think this is the smart move. Right before the warranty ends.

Doesn't the cost go up the longer you wait?

Good question I don't know. Never purchased one.

I am not completely sure but I think I remember reading around 50 bucks cheaper if purchased before 12k miles.

I also believe the cost goes up every year by a little for each plan. New prices for this year come out 8/2 it appears.

I bit the bullet yesterday and bought the 8/100,000 warranty from Flood. They beat Zeigler by $250. Never had a extended warranty before but I don't have as much faith in my Ford as I do in my Hondas. Hope I'm wrong but better safe than sorry.

Not exactly sure of my figures -

The ESP goes up $100 at the 12k/12 month mark. Goes up another $100 at the 36k/36 month mark. There is a window between 36 and 41 months that I just got under when I bought the ESP for my used 2015. After 41 months you can still get an ESP but have to have you truck inspected. So at 40 months I basically paid a $200 surcharge. No choice in this situation as I bought it used.

I agree with waiting until the end of the 36/36 mark. In those first years maybe your truck was trouble free and feel you are ahead of the game. On the other hand maybe you just don't like the truck and want to get rid of it by then.

I bought my '09 FX4 w/lux package new. I did not buy an ESP as I have never bought an extended warranty for anything in my life. But back then I was working and could afford the hit of a few $600-$800 repairs. I recently traded that truck in an off-lease 2015 Lariat.

I added up my out of warranty repairs for my '09 over the last 6 years - came to $2350. Had all sorts of weird stuff - both upper ball joints before 50k - mid steering shaft - power steering pressure line - transfer case actuator - on and on.....all of this happened within 70k miles when I traded it in.

After adding it all up (thankfully kept good records) it was a no brainer for me to buy the ESP for this 2015. Now retired living on 1/3 of my previous salary I am not in the position to tolerate expensive repairs. And I will admit - a lot of it is for peace of mind - well worth the cost for me.

Thanks all - Think I am going to take the plunge. Looking at the 6 yr 100k warranty with 100 deductible. Only option I'll probably get is key and fob. Those things are expensive. Doesn't makes sense to get the light bulb option with a 100 deductible.

100% recommend the First Day Rental option and Enhanced Rental Option. If you want to get something besides a Dart or Camry when t goes in. Best options IMO. YMMV
