Default extang solid fold 2.0

It folds in 3 pieces and is easily removable and made of thick panels. My question is the material between each section could so someone just run a knife through them and basically remove the middle section and have access to your truck bed?

I have the original solid fold not the 2.0. It is basically a hinge system. If the 2.0 is the same I don't see how anyone could just cut through.

Well I went out to get a pic and you are partly correct.

The back to middle section is just basically held together with a piece of rubber. The middle to front section is a hinge system. I was thinking they both were that way.

I can't imagine anyone bothering to do that...

You guys must park your trucks in some rough spots...

I would imagine they would just take a crowbar to it before bothering to climb on the truck to try to cut between the panels...

Well im going to be buying from you truckalterations, when i can decided which cover to get. Im just thinking security. Smart criminal could basically just cut the rubber holding it together then right making the latchs on the front and rear useless?

I think unless you have a 1-piece cover, you could run into this. I have the Extang Encore which is *more* secure than the Solid Fold but I suppose if someone really wanted to, they could get past it.

To be honest I am not real thrilled with my solid fold. I had an A.R.E. fiberglass on my last truck and it was very secure, waterproof and looked as good as new when I sold the truck. The extang is nice to be able to fold and remove easy but that is about it. It claims to keep out water but it leaks terribly. I also have a few scratches and dings on it already and I have no idea how they got there. I am very careful with my truck and it just seems to have a poor finish.

I've had to adjust mine a few times. Partly because the plastic bed liner doesn't sit flush over the cab side rail, and partly because if it's too far back the tailgate won't close. Still working on finding that sweet spot.

We had some crazy rain here last week and although there was water in the bed, I was pleased to see it was a small amount; would guess between 8 to 16 oz.

I did notice mine has a scratch in it; a few little pieces of plastic flaking up and I have NO idea how that would even happen. It's in a hard to reach place so I don't think anyone tried to break in.

Overall I'm still pleased with it.

The only real security offered by any folding tonneau is the hidden factor. If someone wants what is in your truck bed any hand tool is all that's needed to gain access. Don't store anything of value (that's not insured) in a truck. The cab is protected by ultra knife proof glass, not so effective against criminal masterminds wielding a hammer, heavy fist, or rock.
