exhaust note changed
I have a 2017 EB that just came back from its second oil change
this was the first visit to the dealer since I bought it.They had to do the seat belt recall, the door latch recall, and change the oil.
I swear the engine sounds different now, in ninth or tenth gear I can hear a rumble or low tone rattle. It certainly is not as quiet as it was before. Even my wife has noticed it too and she is not very mechanical.
The best description that I can come up with is now sounds like a cheap resonated V6. Could the y have flashed the computer or something? Nothing is loos that I can find. Now I am frustrated

I wonder if the Fake engine noise was some how off and the dealer turned it back on?
There's really nothing else they could have done looking at what they did on your truck IMO.
Oil change and door latch recall would have ZERO to do with changing engine sound.

You may not know this, but Ford plays a V8 engine growl through your speakers to make the "driving experience" more agressive.
At 2:30 in this video below, you can see someone who connected a sound monitoring devise to their sound system and you can see visually what is coming through the speakers when he hits the throttle.
That can be turned off by removing a wire, or doing a FORscan change.

Bottom line is some people like it but I do not. Was very happy Forscan was able to turn it off!
Very interesting. I turned off the FAKE engine noise with Forscan as I really really hated it. I knew something was screwy the first time I hit the go peddle hard on my new 2017. Was like WTH is that sound and it's not my engine...

For some reason I thought I read somewhere this was only in Lariat and up trim levels.

A couple of thoughts.
1. As others stated, they could have enabled your fake engine noise. That's only if you had it disabled.
2. I had a similar change in sound after an oil change one time. They had forgotten to reinstall my oil cap. You might double check that. Also check your PCV hose and air cleaner housing & tubing. They may have checked things and forgotten to shore them back up.
I believe the FAKE engine noise is only used when the vehicle is equipped with the Sony or B&O sound systems. Not 100% sure but perhaps someone else can confirm........
