Default ESP, quick questions

Evening! If you’ve followed my saga a bit, I’ve decided, as recommended, to keep my 2016 f150 and just buy the ESP. (I had no idea it would be sub 1k, I expected 2-3k) I am getting 7 yr (2023), 100k (I’m at 48k now) premium care with the $200 deductible.

Have you found the coverage to be as comprehensive as it appears?

I’ve never had to fight Ford to cover anything, with the extended should I be prepared to?

Is there a “better plan” or am I getting the best one, as it appears to me, I am?

Thanks for all the insight and help so far!

I had two claims on my 2013 under the ESP, one for rear springs and another minor issue. Each time I took it in they were great and no questions asked except to cover my deductible. BTW if you bring it in for two issues under the same appointment it is just the one deducible payment.

I paid $1900 for a $0 deductible/8 yr./100K Premium Care several years ago. It includes LED light coverage and 10 day rental coverage. Two service visits will add $400 to the cost of your warranty just in the deductible, so it is something to consider. I believe the sweet spot for a Premium Care warranty is a $50 deductible.

Hey, are you sure you can get a premium care ESP at 48K miles? I called recently, and was told the absolute limit is 41K miles, and 41 months... but it's substantially more expensive than if you buy it at 3-yr/36K-miles. Not sure if you could buy a powertrain ESP, if it hasn't expired yet (5-yr/60K-miles), but really doubt you can buy a premium care now. But hope I'm wrong. Please keep us posted, and good luck.

You can buy a USED Ford Protect Premium Care plan; however, I believe it requires one of those multi-point Ford inspections, similar to CPO, and repair of all identified items at your expense before the plan can be purchased. The NEW vehicle Ford Protect plan has to be purchased with less than 41 months and 41,000 miles on the vehicle.

This seems to be the case. My truck was/is a CPO, and in order to purchase this one it had to go into the dealership, they fill out a form saying everything is fixed and in good working order, no current issues, then I’m okay. I now have to send that form, and the work order proving it was done at a real dealership to Ziegler, and pay for the ESP. I was honestly very surprised at how cheap it was considering the truck has 48k on it already.

So general consensus is ESP is a solid purchase?

No. Read the many warranty threads and there is no consensus. Many believe it's a waste of money, because with all extended warranties the manufacturer makes huge profits.

My 2016 is a CPO till 2021. I'm still contemplating an ESP from Flood or Zeigler. Do I really have to take the truck to the dealer for a clean bill of health before purchasing one?

I was also falsely under the impression the pano roof is covered under the ESP, but it sounds like it may not be? That was 90% of the reason I wanted an ESP.

I keep searching ESP and come up with nothing. I’ll search warranty, and read some more, thanks!

775 for the extra coverage, with the problems I had, may still make sense. Last month, which was my last covered under warranty, was 5500 in repairs.
