ESP for sure! It's more of a insurance really, if something goes wrong out of warranty it might pay for itself. The way I see maintenance plans are the dealer(ford) has no interest in losing money so I believe in the end the buy gets the shaft, you could also use the saying "there is no free lunch"
It's a pre-paid maintenance plan. Meaning you're paying for it, just ahead of time. It's not a good value.
That being said, I have one on mine, but that's because Ford (not the dealer) gave it to me for free after the numerous issues I had during delivery (Ford's fault, not the dealer's).

I've discussed in a previous thread, but for me, I took the maintenance plan. $2700 for the 5yr 100k plan.
Breaks down like this, keep in mind, I'm in Canada and we fall under severe maint. Because of the temp swings.
12 oil changes and tire rotations (every 8k or 6 months)
Figure that service is at least $100 at dealer ($1200)
Plus it includes air filters, seat filters, brakes including rotors, shocks, belts hoses. Plus a major service at 96k transfer case service and spark plugs.
Good at any dealer in North America, transferable to next vehicle or pro rated if veh. Gets written off.
I agree you are paying for it up front however don't think prices (for labour and parts) will go down over the five years.

PREMIUM FORD ESP!
The other is just prepaid oil changes basically. it claims to support a few other "maintenance issues".
but the Premium ESP is the most comprehensive for parts coverage.
Try online dealers like Zeigler, Flood, Lombard, Troy, Anderson Koch
http://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/ use "GREGH" for a promo discount.

As an x employee who worked in the shop I'd go with esp. Like others have said fmpp is a prepaid maintenance plan meaining you paid for oil changes and tranny services. ESP is an actual warranty on parts
