I installed the original sensor, removed the spacer and installed a washer with the little bolt that holds the sensor in place. Without the washer, the sensor would not completely tighten up (once the spacer was removed). I then cleared the codes.

So, I don’t know if the issue was a bad sensor/wire that came with the new hub (and this time installing original sensor worked because I cleared the codes) or if it was removing the spacer. In either scenario, there is a manufacturer spec or defect issue.

Thank you everyone for your guidance (and patience with my lack of knowledge).

I’m on to my next learning experience. Retirement is great (I don’t know how I ever had time to work).

I would guess it was a bad new sensor. Glad you got it fixed.

Retired, where every day is Saturday. Kinda got confused with all the input, not a bad thing. So. it seems it was a bad wire after all?

The tail light is “on the list.” I flat tow the F150 with an RV, and I suspect the wire from the tail light up to the RV connection in the front bumper is shorting out. Or, it may be the diode that was part of installing the tow wiring. Funny thing, the signal lights work fine, but I get the fast blink on the dash. I’ve got some work to do on the RV before I get back to the truck.

Thanks again everyone. This is a great forum. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll be able to contribute.

Adding to this thread although old because I just dealt with a similar thing. Replaced a growling driver side hub on 2018 Lariat with 142k km on it. Ordered a mid range hub (WJB) and replaced. Immediately had parking aid codes as well as a strange limited slip error. (I don't have a locking diff). Cleared codes, codes returned immediately. Things like cruise control refusing to go on. Auto park gave errors to check parking aid. Found reference to perhaps an issue due to having unplugged trailer module up near brake under driver side dash. Plugged it in, no change, reset codes with forscan.....immediate return of codes.

Swapped bad hub speed sensor which was fine, reset codes.....all back to normal, no codes and all features working properly.

Comparing the sensors they look identical....the only difference was the new hub has a two holed washer or thin plate between sensor and hub body. When I put the old sensor in I did not include the washer. If I had all the time in the world I would swap the new sensor back without the spacer to see if it would then work. I did find a thread on another forum where someone removed the washer and solved this kind of problem. Why this aftermarket has the spacer...who knows?

Hope it helps someone.
