Engineering Test Mode
As far as I know this is just a way to test the gauges and some electronics. I think what the OP wants is a way to monitor other information while driving.
Just use Torque Pro or Lite for android phones with a good quality ODBII bluetooth connector. You can monitor all you want with either analog or digital readouts.
I use
Foseal Car OBD2 OBD 2 OBDII Bluetooth Diagnostic Scan Tool

I did it yesterday on my Lariat with the 502A and at first it didn't look like it worked so I started driving and then I looked down at the screen and it was in Engineering test mode. Press the up or down arrow and you can cycle trough all the different options, most I have no idea what they are for but you check (as previously mentioned) gauges, lights, batter voltage, turbo pressure, coolant temp and a bunch of other things.

Good to know, thanks for sharing. What did you do exactly?
I held the "ok" button on the steering wheel, pushed the start button (no foot on the brake) so it's in ACC, waited a few seconds then I started the truck. Like I said it took about 30 seconds or so before I saw anything on the screen.
