Default Engine keeps running after key removed

i parked my 2016 f150 and went in a store with the key. When I returned ten mins later the engine was running but the tach showed zero rpm. I pushed the gas pedal and the engine revved but tach still showed zero. I inserted the key and turned the motor off and restarted fine. Has not happened again. Any ideas? I see ford had a recall for this in other models in 2015.

Sounds like it was remotely started. Maybe you hit the buttons in your pocket?

Any chance you accidentally remote started it?

this truck does not have remote start. And why would the tachometer not move?

seems strange. I know my focus had a recall for the PCM where the engine would remain running in some situations even with the key switched off...I guess keep an eye on it, record video to show service if you need it.

Nothing works in remote start. A/C, radio, cluster... nada.

Since when can you rev the engine with a remote start? Guess I haven't tried a whole lot, but I thought the vehicle doesn't respond at all until the brake is pressed and start is hit.

Also as he said, he doesn't have remote start enabled.

in remote start mode that's what it does. the truck runs and you can rev it, But none of the gauges or electronics work. but since you don't have it, It must be something different.

I didn't even realize you could still get one without remote start.
