Default Engine hours to miles

Hey everyone. I have 2085 hours on the truck and about 64,000 miles. Is this about average hours would you say?

I have about half that on both measures, so at the least it’s not too abnormal.

Average speed of 30.7MPH, which isn't too surprising if you drive in the city.

I've got fire apparatus with an average speed of less than 7MPH... so it could be worse!

I read somewhere (anecdotally) that 1 hour of idle = 20 miles of use. Maybe from a YouTube guy that rebuilds police Crown Victorias and Chevy Caprices.

Interesting. I'm at 20,000 miles and 600 hours. Half highway half city. That seems to align with others.

Before the days of engine hour meters, Ford advised that, for severe service (police, taxi, etc.), 1 hour of idle was the equivalent of 33 miles. Oil didn't hold up as well back then, and people were driving 3-5K plus copious idle time and wondering why their engines were seeing premature wear.

84000 miles, 2460 hours, 480 idle hours.

Rule of thumb for fleets is 33 miles = 1 hour of idling time. Turned in a truck at work - 2015 with 42,000 on it and over 4000 idle hours...
