Default Which engine coolant for 2016?

I noticed today on my 2016 5.0 with 17K miles the engine coolant is right under the MIN level. As a maintenance freak I'm just going to top it off a little and keep an eye on it. I do not have the manual, could anyone tell me what they have used or what is ok to use? It is the orange color coolant so obviously I'll stay with that but do I have to use a Ford product or is one at Autozone/discount ok?

Thank you and Merry Christmas!

I tried to copy the link to the 2016 f150 manual but my ipad wouldn’t do it. Just go to google and search for 2016 f150 manual and it will come up.

The spec for the Ford OEM Orange coolant is WSS-M97B44-D2 (Concentrate) or WSS-M97B44-D (50/50 Pre-Mix)

If the coolant is just below the MIN level, I would add some distilled water and call it a day.

I didn't realize that was safe to do. I live in Florida so I'll never worry about my coolant freezing.

Which means buy the Ford branded stuff or Prestone DexCool. They’re the same thing.
I’d do what was mentioned above though and just add some distilled water.

I added about a gallon of Dexcool to my 2011 after changing the thermostat.
My dealer didn't have any Motorcraft Orange in stock and the service manager told me to top it off with Dexcool.

Formulated for use in all vehicles that require DEX-COOL coolant, Prestone DEX-COOL 50/50 is the featured factory filled blend used by major auto manufacturers. The blend contains 50% antifreeze for temperature and corrosion protection and 50% demineralized water for vital heat transfer. Prestone DEX-COOL meets or exceeds ASTM D3306 and SAE standards for corrosion protection and meets GMW3420 (GM 6277M), Ford WSS-M97B44-D and property and performance specification requirements of Chrysler MS12106 (MS-7170 & MS-9769.)

If you compare SDS sheets they’re identical. Ford doesn’t make any fluids at all, they rebrand things from others and protect who the actual manufacturer is. I have a suspicion Prestone makes Fords coolant but I can’t find any proof outside of circumstantial evidence.

Dexcool it is! Way easier for me to get a hold of. Thank you.
