That's my story exactly. Went to trade in my 07 5.4 on my 2015. Test drove a 5.0 and loved it. Seen another truck that caught my eye, but it had the 2.7 in it. Drove it any way and was very impressed. Still driving it 13,000 miles later. Very impressed by this little motor!

Same basic reaction here as well. Traded in my 2010 Triton V8 and was just stunned by the acceleration and pull from the 2.7 EB motor. Tested the 3.5 EB as well, and still decided on the 2.7 There is just "something" about it I could not get over and it won my purchase.

Coming from 2 previous 3.5 eb i went with the 5.0 this time. Never even considered the 2.7. My brother just bought a new screw 4x4 2.7. I drove it to get some mods put on for him and i was really surprised how much power it had. Definitely worth considering.

I've got 40K now on my 16 with the 2.7 and its been wonderful. I really did enjoy the sound the V8 had and there are times where i think I should have gotten it, would have gotten similar mileage, but i put my foot in the 2.7 and it amazes me what that little V6 can do.

I came from the 5.4 Triton in my 06 and once I climbed into the 3.5 EB I never looked back. It's a different sound but man it just makes the old normally aspirated fuel injected V8 seem like a relic from the past. I had the 2.7 for a week while my truck was in for service. I like it a lot too. One day I'll get to test drive a Raptor. I'll bet that thing is a beast.

Maybe just replace the resonator with a straight pipe to get a litle more exhaust sound? I'm thinking of going that route rather than a full exhaust.

In order to get that raspy turbo sound, you need to replace the downpipes, but that's a lot of work and I believe that requires a tune as well.

My advice on V6 sound? Leave it alone. You'll get minimum performance benefits, spend alot of money, and still not sound like a V8.

They have a thread over on the f150 EB forum that has exhaust videos of a bunch of aftermarket exhausts. Honestly putting an exhaust on these just seems to make them louder...but they still sound basically the same. To me it seemed like a lot of money for not much benefit, if you're looking for a better exhaust note.

I feel similar......not that I was looking at a raptor....lucky. I went in wanting the new 3.5, drove it it was nice..it was fast. I ended up leaving with a 2.7, the deal I got on the 2.7 was too good to pass up and I have to say after driving it for a week its great. I've never felt short on power, it pulls very strong from any RPM. Off the line it's supers strong, every now and then I find myself putting a bit more throttle into it than I really need just to feel that boost kick in.

A tuner will only make it better....even though this truck doesn't even need one...I'm probably going to drive it totally stock for at least a year before I even think about anything like that.

Same with the v8s or Hardly crowd. Some just like the "look at me sound". Aka "more show than go" Not my cup of tea on any vehicle...

2.7 engine is a good choice and the only thing that i would do different is get the 3.73 differential instead of the 3.55. On the highway the 2.7 fuel mileage drops over 70mph and think the 3.73 would let the small displacement engine rev a little higher before the boost comes up on it. Have had 300/6, 4.6, 5.4 & and a beast 460, this little engine is just a sleeper. Would like to be in my 20's again, get a 2 wheel drive xl reg. cab short box 2.7 with a 3.73 elckr and wake some people up.

16 lariat, s crew, 2.7, 3.55 elckr.
