I think id put a manual switch in line some where. most of what I do is my choice in the daylite or garage with drop lite. the emergency lites would be good cept I have a 12 volt on a cord to reach all 4 corners. personal perferance? but id do a manual switch, don't need the lites on all the hood open time.

the ajar switch on the latch is a direct module monitored circuit, i would not recommend tapping into this.

Agreed, yet one could be savy and use the voltage on this switch as a trigger to a relay.....easy peezy, and no electrical issue or worries about the module. jsdcorte, you are very astute with this post!

I would absolutely use a relay, with the blue/orange wire as the coil ground.

That should go without saying on these trucks.

I LOVE relays! DeltaNu1142, be sure to source one of the small (mini) 12V waterproof relays. Easier to hide and better protection (waterproof) from corrosion.

I have a ton of the run-of-the-mill 12V relays around. I'll have to check into a mini.

OK, I just decided to go the route of the pin switch, just to avoid feeding 12V where it might not belong. Ironically, the switch is the only thing I'm missing. It's supposed to arrive today (Amazon Prime).

Here's my install. If I ground the loose black wire, these strips light up.

My only concern is whether the heat (engine/sun) will loosen the adhesive on the strips. I'll probably end up having to silicone them at some point.

I wish the strips had come in black, so they'd blend in with the hood a little better.

Ahhh man! Wish you could/would have held out a lil longer. We could have come up with a badassed oem looking lighting system for your truck. Would have blended in perfectly like it was supposed to have been there. . I have a few harnesses that I'm building for a bunch of members...when I'm done I'll prioritize this and the bed. The bed will be a direct add on to the led lights already back there plus a twist....all operated from the oem bed switch AND from inside!
